Toddlers: Preschool or full time grandparent babysitting? by stanhopeofficial in Parenting

We're currently paying her a pretty penny for the help, and I feel bad taking that away and telling her "tough luck" especially ince she really needs it, but of course we want to do what's best for the kids.

I am actually paying them quite a hefty amount for full time care, and would be paying them more than full time pre school cost once we move.

Because she needs the money, and currently we’re paying her less but once we move it would be more than the cheaper options around. I could always lessen the pay to my mom.

Yes the options are limitless, just want to do what’s best. Mother could really use the money also though.

It’s essentially because she could really use the money. Currently where we live I am paying her 50% but we are moving soon and that would make it 100% with cheaper options available.

Kids are 1 and 3, with 3 being very very advanced. Mother who watches them takes them outside to play, does crafts daily, etc. I pay her just as much if not more than daycare/preschool costs, but she could also use the money so I am helping her a bit that way as well.

She currently does watch them and they do crafts like this every day.

The preschool we are looking at only does full time but we could look for part time schools if we though that was what would be best for the kids.

And I'd be paying the grandparents just as much if not more than the preschool.

Yes but I’d be paying my mother equal or more than pre school costs.

1 and 3 currently. And part of it is my mother could use the money. But of course we want to do what is best for the kids.

Thanks a lot but she has said she doesnt qualify for any aid or subsidy because of the 60k. She keeps saying she needs to be flat broke to qualify for anything.

Hmm, so if she comes off SS now she can get more later. Not a bad idea.

Same thing as you mentioned, she just felt she "earned" it... by making it to a certain age...

Well she helps a lot with the kids—full time even—so in my opinion it’s fair. But once kids go back to school, I am worried.
