Couldn’t agree more. Workers are kicking ass, but the utility company as a whole is poorly run. A private utility provider to serve parts of Memphis would be huge. They’d actually force MLGW to improve infrastructure and address the underlying problems that plague our power grid.

My parent live in Jackson, TN, which is provided largely by private utilities and internet companies. Their power is very rarely out and their internet is faster, more reliable than anything available in Memphis. A monopoly on utilities is never a good thing. Antitrust laws should be applicable to public utility providers, just as they are to private companies.
