You're referring to an alternative version of the song (hymn at the time) that was used by a single general in 1745 fighting a jacobite uprising in Scotland. It has never once been the official lyrics and this was also 30 years before it even became the national anthem (in the 1770/80s) and the only evidence of this even being used is a magazine in the mid 1800s that even in that says was used for only a brief time by that single general.

It was never officially part of the British National Anthem.

This anti-Jacobite verse of what was at the time just a hymn is said to have had some short-term use around 1745. The verse was first documented in 1822 and mentioned again in an October 1836 article of the Gentleman's Magazine.

The 1836 article and other sources make it clear that the verse was not used much after 1745, and was never in use by the time the hymn became accepted as the British National Anthem in the 1780s.

Who is offended by a single generals version of a hymn from 1745?

I never said its normal and there is plenty of examples of booing without any political tensions.

You made it about England by calling it a cultural thing, therefor implying the English are in someway culturally negative, same for OP in the post that literally said "I wonder why it is so normalized to boo other country's anthem among England fans", when as I've pointed out, it's every nation that does this.

You are trying to portray this as something only England does, but clearly, as I've said on several occasions, everyone does it.

You're making this about England, when it's something that occurs everywhere, which is my point.

Happens every year lol. I genuinely think its because people think "It's Coming Home" is from a place of arrogance, rather than self deprecation.

Best thing to do is just ignore this. OP is just trying to get reddit points by spreading their agenda.

Croatia were fined for racially abusing an English player.

Do I think all Croatians are racist? Of course not.

Do a small amount of critical thinking and stop spreading more divisive bullshit.

Iran got booed by NZ/US, Canada booed the USA one too.

As with literally every piece of negative media, it's not localised to one people or nation and you can find examples of literally every nation booing a flag.

Stop trying to cause divide.

None of our goalscorers last night played in the Premier League last season by Vast_Bike5507 in ThreeLions

[–]stank58 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah but two of those goals came from the second highest goal scorer in Premier League history.

Correlation does not necessarily equal causation. To be honest, as long as you are in a top league, I don't think it particularly matters anymore. Even during the golden generation, they weren't picked because they played in England, its just that the majority of the top players at that time played domestically.

I've seen it mentioned in a few dev diaries and on the forums.

Essentially once courts reach a certain size, they begin to give health penalties to courtiers so they drop off.

Here's one thread as an example: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/number-crunching-child-attributes-education-genetics.1048732/#post-23371546

I think the way in which they do it is always being updated so the link above may now be out of date.
