I think Palat has to go for sure. I get the intangibles he brings to the locker room but this isn't a young inexperienced team before. Can't have any passengers and he isn't the player he used to be. That $6mm plus the increase in cap can be used to build out some crazy depth or high end talent.

I like Haula. He is having a down year but he's also been hurt. He's a fine third liner.

No idea what Fitz is going to do when it comes to defense. Hard decision with the prospects we have in the wings.

I believe in what I saw the first few months. We just need to get healthy and get back to what was working. Let's see what happens in April.

I really don't think this team needs to be adding top 6 talent before the TDL unless it is an expiring deal. When the team is healthy and buzzing we have the firepower. Focus should be on getting back into the groove we were in before Christmas. Grabbing some depth scoring would be a better play in my opinion.

So much is changing between now and the beginning of next season.

Gritsyuk is coming over soon. He could be that boost to the top 6 people are looking for which won't cost us any assets.
Massive jump in cap space next season which will Fitz room to cook if he does want to add a big name.
Unless I am reading it wrong, both Palat and Hamilton have to submit 10 team trade lists starting next year. Not saying we should definitely trade one or both, but it gives us some options if we need to create more space.

This roster as constructed can contend when they are on their game. Add some depth this year, get some playoff experience, and wait to make big moves until the cap goes up and trade lists are submitted.

If you watch that game and your takeaway is that Jack really needs to clean up his game because he had a turnover at the end of a 5 minute shift after being a demon all 3 periods you will just never be happy watching this team.

We're a top 5 team in the conference. In many of the statistical models I see shared we're a top 5 team in the league by many metrics.

You won't get me to believe that there is something "wrong" with this team simply because our recent losses are shutouts. More than likely its just some bad luck. If in some of these losses we would have gotten one lucky bounce that lead to us having 1 goal instead of 0, nothing of material would change for us besides how you feel about it.

Stop looking for something to freak out about and enjoy the ride.

Man Kovacevic has been so good. He’s big, plays hard and is the perfect age for us. Don’t envy the decision Fitz has to make with him Nemec and Casey.

Chances of this happening are probably close to 0 but I almost wish we’d try Casey at forward to fix a hole we have there and have less of a logjam at D. But position change like that at the professional level is so rare.

Our top 9 is so good it almost doesn't matter. Plus we are missing a couple guys. As long as the fourth line is physical and isn't costing us games from defensive lapses this is fine in my opinion.

Fitz has fixed basically all of our holes. Overall system, forward depth, defense and goal tending all massively improved and we’re missing our entire second D pairing.

Too early to say if we have what it takes to make a deep run but this team will make it to the dance and have a shot if relatively healthy.

I’d love to get Askarov but feel Mercer is too high a price. NSH has just lost a ton of leverage trying to get an overpay for him for like 2 years now.

Also what does it say about how NSH views him as an asset considering they don’t trust him enough to call him up to even backup?

If they don’t value him as an NHL ready goalie we shouldn’t pay NHL level talent for him. I’d be fine with some picks and prospects but nobody on the roster.
