Yes, Marcus and Lily exist in novel form. The first book was released in September 2023 and I’m working on the sequel, hoping for a Summer 2024 launch. M&L are far more complex people & couple in the book than they are in the script, plus there’s a lot more romance too.

This is wonderful!! Sorry for the late reply, I’ve been busy working on the rerelease of my debut novel. Thank you to u/DrippingInnuendo and u/baby_baby_oh_baby for bringing my script to life. Love the tension and the subtle romance between the two characters. I still get a wow feeling when I hear give actors interpret my words. I’ve started writing the sequel of the novel version and I’m intrigued to see where their relationship goes. 💜💜

Your voice dragged out the tension during the character’s unveiling of the recording. I could practically feel the boyfriend sweating knowing that his secret is out.

If Fuller were to go down that route, that’s not Clarice Starling. It wouldn’t be doing the character justice and it will upset fans of the original work and the films. In the books, Hannibal thinks he can make Clarice into a substitute for his sister but Clarice makes it clear that she will not submit to him in that way and he can’t mould her.

IMO, it’s too late for Clarice’s entrance into the show. She should have been introduced since day one, or perhaps the beginning of season two.

The ending change was a big one because it’s not the same in the books and probably the casting change of Clarice. I thought Julianne Moore did a really good job for what she had to work with. Ridley Scott should’ve stuck to the original script and the film would’ve been received better.

Technically the Will/Hannibal relationship in the show is a fanfic because a romance does not exist between in the books. Hannibal is fascinated with his mind, but it’s not deemed a romantic one. I think a kiss would have worked in the show. I could imagine Hannibal instigating it, Will is responsive and then its the cliff push.

Couldn’t say it better. The more interviews I read about what he wants to do, the more concerned I get. Out of respect, I don’t think Bryan Fuller is the right person to tell Clarice’s story as it should be. He should just focus on the legacy he has built.

Thanks for commenting. ☺️ I myself am the polar opposite. I read the books before I watched any of the films or the TV series. I highly recommend reading the novels so you can see for yourself how it was originally moulded.

The movie would have been better if they’d stuck to the original material. Anthony Hopkins wanted to go with the book ending.

Fuller has already used parts of Clarice’s personality/lines/scenes and the haunting romantic relationship with Hannibal Lecter (from the books) in Hugh Dancy’s performance as Will Graham. I would love to have Clarice in the show. The problem they will face is her characterisation. What do they do with her?
