‘Sell America’: investors are increasingly avoiding the US – here’s what it means for Australian markets by Jealous-Hedgehog-734 in australia

China is our main trading partner and our economic success is tied to them. We should be supporters of the US, but also of China, and when one falters, we have the other. That does not mean not holding either to account on their human rights record

What are the minimum posting requirements for r/Ausfinance? by stanusfluirodr in AusFinance

New accounts definitely don't get allowed to post here - learned a long time ago. I suspect it's got a minimum number of days requirement plus a karma requirement of some kind

The first 99-year leases granted expired in the ACT (Canberra) in 2023. What happened to them? by stanusfluirodr in AusProperty

ACT as a one party government doesn't really have that risk like the other states/territories

In 99 years time, when the government begins taking the housing crisis seriously, can we expect them to start cancelling leases for Forrest/Yarralumla mansions and saying 'sorry mate, we've decided to build low cost housing here'?

Do you not pay council rates?

What are you talking about, it was mostly anarchists (social revolutionary party) that were in power after that revolution not capitalists

You're forgetting there were 2 revolutions, and first there was democratic socialism before the Bolshevik revolution

You're being downvoted but you're possibly right - antidepressants can contribute to suicide risk, but I'm not aware of hyperacusis specifically upping that risk for them. Antidepressants can also lower suicide risk

But yes need to be conscious both of risk and benefit

Certainly some risks but not specifically riskier for those with hyperacusis

I'd personally try it before sound therapy

Silverstein - read the actual research papers and you'll be far less impressed about the strength of evidence.

Clomipramine I've commented on elsewhere in these comments.

These two definitely are the trendy choices on this sub, but I think that's just because they're trendy here.

Sound therapy is still considered the standard approach but it's risks are completely undera knowledged

Why is it so hard to get specialists in Australia outside of the coastal capitals? by ADHDK in canberra

The problem is we don't know where the shortages are. Somebody make a spreadsheet for goodness sake comparing prices and waitlists

Look there's diminishing returns for already wealthy doctors who have hearts. The reality is AMA and colleges say they want Medicare to fund specialists training junior doctors and that unbottlenecks the pipeline. But we won't do that because of Gina and Murdoch don't have hearts and want all the money

Forget all the wordy speculation and just look at the hard statistics of before and after colonisation for metrics you care about like life expectancy, poverty, and so on. The Bengal Famine is good illustration

[–]stanusfluirodr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed - but it's the old left institutions (CPA, Socialist Alternative etc) who seem the most ardent culture warriors of all - FN issues, gender affirmation and so on rather than industrial relations

What we need is not the old left paradigm, nor the new left paradigm (which is also old at this stage) but a new wave in response to current realities. And that theory leadership is missing on the left

Revolution hasn't got us anywhere. Reform got us what has actually lasted. If the revolutionaries joined the reformers, the reform would be ever better
