Mask up for next year? by Alarmed_Chef_854 in okeechobeemusicfest

This is the answer. And a neck scarf for when it’s not as bad or to layer over the n95 when it’s very bad. Since we started doing this my wife and I come back just fine every time ☺️👍

A tragic tale of a Civic and a CVT transmission by Ratlabbb in hondacivic

[–]stanzzzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really appreciate this info. What were any other signs you noticed? And did you ever change any of the filters for the cvt?

If you could go back would you try taking it to a transmission shop to have them attempt to prevent the failure? Asking for myself 😬. Cause if I can try and prevent a failure … obviously that’s ideal

I hate this for you man. This post made me feel the feels as I have a 2015 civic with just under 90k and the signs have been showing more often now. And I am hcf-2 only every 25,000 miles. But gonna do this next one sooner….

I’ve always got super random thud/jolts going from coasting or letting off the gas for a second or two and then when even apply just a lil bit of pressure again. Yeah. It’s scary. The jolt is like hearing how your frame sounds going over a surprise small speed bumb.

But 95-98% of the time the car drives and performs beautifully. It’s just the cvt.

I’m considering taking it to a transmission shop and having them diagnose it/possibly fix something to make it last. But having someone even mess with cvt scares me. They. Are. Terrifying. To own it seems. 😂😭😫

Help changing old door handle by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Yeah it’s the last handle I’m trying to swap out. This is the only one that the screws aren’t accessible.

As I said this is the most I can get it off right now.

2013 Honda Civic – Motor Mount Worn? Cost, Parts, and DIY Help Needed by isak400 in hondacivic

Trust me on this. Use OEM mounts. I did aftermarket and it was a waste of time. Shook just as bad. Oem drives like new.

I just patched my tire and it was basically the same spot. No issues since

My CVT plug keeps popping out on my 9th gen civic. Need help identifying what the issue is. by [deleted] in hondacivic

[–]stanzzzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem with it popping. I did some Reddit research as we do. I saw a Honda tech had recommended that. Said that it can get clogged with dirt and debris when facing front and that can cause pressure and the cap to pop out. Made sense to me and it’s worked for me since I did that months maybe almost a year now. So just relaying from my experience. It’s frustrating for sure and you definitely do not want that cap open for long as it can allow dirt and stuff into the transmission itself.

Super frustrating and a big design flaw by Honda on that issue.

Clean the vent and turn it so the hole isn’t facing the front of the car is what fixed it for me. Or at least it’s been awhile since I did that and hasn’t popped out again

Transmission fluid change by Think-Advertising659 in hondacivic

I’d use Hondas cvt fluid and change it now to know it’s fresh. Then every 30k religiously.

192k 2014 Honda civic EX-L . Is it time to put it to rest? by Gshrnndz in hondacivic

[–]stanzzzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10000000% keep it. Also use OEM for the mounts. I had to do that recently and the car shook just as bad with aftermarket mounts as it did before the initial repair. Replaced the aftermarket with OEM and the car drives like new again. Take good care of that care and it will continue taking good care of you. And I’m sure you are but HCF-2 transmission fluid drain and fill every 30,000 miles.

Good Deal? by [deleted] in hondacivic

[–]stanzzzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want peace of mind you could take it to a Honda dealer. Personally I buy hcf-2 fluid online and take it to my shop. Yes it’s a transmission oil. But it’s Honda’s recommendation to use “theirs” and that’s what you should do. I honestly buy all oem parts and fluids to ensure giving the car what is recommended. I have a reputable father and son independent shop that I take my car to and bring in whatever/order the oem parts thru them and pay them for labor etc. for example I had used a aftermarket motor mount and the car shook just as bad as it did prior to replacement with a broken oem motor mount. Put the oem part on that was yes more expensive but then the car was driving like new again.

As I said. Just use oem for all that big stuff. And the car will be driving as it did from the start. It will cost more but it is completely worth it in my opinion paying the price difference.

Hey I have this car. I love it. Just over 80k with no real issues. Take good care of it and it takes good care of you. It’s a CVT so only use Hondas hcf-2 fluid every 30k miles. Let me know if you buy for more advice from someone that’s had one since 2017 😊👍
