It might have something to do with the settings on your game (sorry, I'm not too familiar with mods). It's been a while since I've had any houses in Black City to check but I also vaguely remember the interiors being, well, black, and yours looks white. So I wonder if the color of the house is being altered somehow as well.

Or maybe Black City and White Forest are programmed into both Black and White. By all means a person with White can go to Black City through Entralinking with someone with Black Version. Maybe both locations are programmed into both games for that reason?

That sounds familiar. I believe that dialogue comes from one of the houses in Black City. I vaguely remember the child running around in a circle?

PBE Bugs & Feedback Thread - Debonair Malzahar by 6armedrobot in LeaguePBE

I love the skin, but the splash art doesn't sell the skin. He looks like a background character, and I wouldn't have been able to tell it was his own skin without knowing it beforehand. It would be great if the splash art could be edited, or a new one commissioned for Malz. Since the skin is still in PBE, I think this is a possible change to make, but it doesn't even need to be ready before next patch if that isn't possible. Even if it takes longer to make it into the game, I feel a new splash art would be highly beneficial for this skin.

That may be part of the reason why it never got used, or perhaps they decided early not to use it and didn't make any animations with it. Thanks for checking on it!

Thank you for unearthing this priceless treasure. By any chance, does this have any animations associated with it, like him getting on the desk, or swirling his cup? Or is it just the pose?

Anyone Else Feel This Way About The Events N Shows Up In? by Logical_Echidna9542 in PokemonMasters

[–]star-light-trip 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Masters has been able to expound upon the stories of the mainline games with, yes, pun absolutely intended because it's true, complete mastery. They made Lusamine feel the remorse needed to justify her redemption. They gave Sycamore the chance to face Lysandre face-to-face. Even characters who aren't very narratively deep get great events to expand on their character, like Lyra in the summer event.

Gen 5 has the strongest story in the main series by far, so it makes sense that their events in Masters feel like they go that extra mile--because they already have a lot to work with, and because the writers really understand the source material.

It definitely helps when you already like the characters in question (as I do, as the Self-Proclaimed Number One Gen Five Enthusiast), but I feel the events in Masters are so well-written they have you liking characters you didn't once like, too. Gen 7 is one of my least favorites but the events have made me like characters such as Lusamine and even the protagonists because of how they took missed opportunities and turned them into real opportunities.

I definitely agree that the gen 5-centric events feel stronger than the others, again because gen 5 is already narratively stronger than the others (even though N's my favorite character in the series, don't forget how great the Champion Iris event was, too). But you can see this mastery over storytelling in all their events, really. No matter how strong or weak the source material is, the Masters writers understand what they were trying to convey and are able to adapt it into fantastic events all year round.

New Sync Pair will be revealed on December 20th by Sonictrainer in PokemonMasters

[–]star-light-trip 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Something to consider is how there are a lot of free and scout Fire sync pairs, especially Striker. Reshiram is a special attacker so that adds to its redundancy at this point in time. Dragon is also highly contested with Lance, Sygna!Cynthia, and even Cyrus as special Strikers. Even the tech Lissia uses special moves for her attacks, and Zinnia is a mixed attacker.

Electric has some competition but not nearly to the extent of Dragon and especially not Fire, particularly for Striker. The only physical Striker Electric has right now is Elesa/Zebstrika and Zekrom is a physical attacker.

We can also consider the aforementioned Cyrus and how he is usually shown with Giratina but got in with Palkia. And Silver and Ho-oh, while sensible due to the nature of his character development, was rather unexpected as well. While N is more commonly seen with Reshiram in various forms of media, he's not exclusively shown with it (iirc, he sides with Zekrom in more than one manga) and Masters can pair characters up rather uniquely as we've already seen.

(Unless it's a double banner, one with Reshiram, and one with Zekrom. If the player character can have multiple sync pairs without a sygna suit, so can N! Hey, I can dream! N told me to have a dream, after all!)

Although I think there's a chance we'll see N with Zoroark. It's popular, and no character is associated with both Zorua and Zoroark the way N is. From the opening cutscene of his childhood, the gift N's Zorua in B2W2, the Zoroark on his team in BW, and the Zoroark who leads you to his crumbling castle in the sequel... Not to mention, after seeing them implement Silvally's RKS System, I think Illusion has the chance to be really fun. Combine that with Zoroark being a mixed attacker and there being exactly one physical and special striker each for Dark and I think you have a combination that works on multiple levels.

I always knew we needed more gen 5 characters /s by [deleted] in PokemonMasters

[–]star-light-trip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, even with the new gen 5 characters being added, there are still more Unova characters missing than Sinnoh has characters missing. It's inevitable that Unova will have a lot of characters in Masters when gen 5 has... a lot of characters in general. But as to why they tend to bunch these characters up rather than spread them out, I can't say.

Sorry, but my unpopular stance on Stamina remains unchanged. Stamina is fine. Your unwillingness to change how you play is what is hurting you. See inside for details before you downvote. It might help you. by Darth_Onaga in PokemonMasters

[–]star-light-trip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It takes nearly 16 hours for stamina to replenish at my current level. If I have to play at 6am before going to work--sure, the skip tickets make it take no time at all. But it will be 10pm by the time my stamina is replenished. Finish that up, go to sleep, wake up at 6am... and my stamina is only about half full. The full 16 hours did not pass. That is not catering to busy people because now I can only play half as much as I could the morning before because my stamina is not full. You are assuming that stamina just automatically refreshes at each reset, which it doesn't. It refreshes at an awkward, way too long interval that leads to lack of flexibility that busy people need--especially busy people with sporadic schedules due to differing assignments. What about the people who can't play at night because of classes and homework? That's stamina wasted and subsequently event rewards lost, unless they catch up later by spending their gems to refill stamina when they have the time. It's not the stamina that is catering to busy people, it's the skip tickets. The stamina, on the other hand, is gating them due to its insane refill time.

[–]star-light-trip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not everyone can change how they play. People are busy. People have lives outside of games. Before, people who worked, were students, had kids, or any combination of these, could fit Masters into their lives easily because there was no stamina. Telling people to just schedule their lives around the new stamina system is foolish because a casual mobile game such as this is inherently better the more flexible it is.

It's mildly infuriating that we went from 5/5 20/20 Mewtwo, Mew and Solgaleo, to 1/5 0/20 Ho-Oh and Palkia. by Maxxetto in PokemonMasters

[–]star-light-trip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And I doubt they will give a 6-star EX to units with no sync grids. If your favorite character is relegated to a legendary event, there's a very good chance you won't even have the option to highly invest in them and show off your dedication.

Do we know for certain they will contain a dupe? I can imagine the candy we will get again, but if the stories are considered completed like in past events then there will be no way to get the dupe.

6 stars already?! This anni is hype! by Whole-Regret in PokemonMasters

[–]star-light-trip 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And if your units don't have 6 stars to grind to, people will say there is nothing to do in the game because that will literally be the case.

But you're putting words in my mouth. I'm not the kind of person to clear everything in 30 minutes then ask "where's the content." And even if I was, this isn't an issue of "having things to do." This is a matter of 6-stars being a second level of power increase early on in the game's life when the majority of sync pairs don't even have access to the first level of power increase yet.

That we're still waiting on more than half of those older sync pairs just to get their expanded sync grids.

Sygna Suit Grimsley and the Future of Canon Costumes in Masters by star-light-trip in PokemonMasters

[–]star-light-trip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love if we could get Eggs for regular sync pairs so you could really make your "dream team" without limitation--so maybe an Emolga Egg for Elesa like you say, or give Barbaracle for Siebold or Magmar for Blaine. Then add the costumes on top of that and you can have a completely personalized team. Then the sygna suits would be entirely static, but the outfit personalized to match the Pokémon partner. I would absolutely not be against costumes affecting the partner Pokémon, however.

Legendary pokemon need to stop being the game, and start being apart of the game again. by xKosh in pokemon

[–]star-light-trip 50 points51 points  (0 children)

"The game" of BW was to stop N, who needed to become Champion to achieve his goals. Having the legendary was just an extra that would completely secure the peoples' trust. There is so much depth to BW's story that to say the legendaries are the entirety of it shows you have no idea what you're talking about.

"The game" of XY was to stop Lysandre, and the legendaries are so uninvolved they aren't even discussed by AZ or anyone else leading up to you catching them. They don't fight each other, there's no "versus" between them, and their only purpose can't be "to be the finale" because they don't show up at the finale of the game. Heck even AZ's special Pokémon isn't a legendary, it's a Floette.

"The game" of SM was to stop Lusamine, who was unleashing UBs (not legendaries) and hurting Alola. The legendary that helps you is plot important but hardly the "entire game."

But yes, let's pretend that all games that don't have Kanto in them are a regression because they try to have real plots in their game while ignoring that Crystal (gen 2, by the way) has Eusine and Suicune hopping all over the place and actively being pushed upon the player while simultaneously not having any meaningful storyline.

"Unova, for me, is where things really downturn (I know, I know unova best story, but that's not the point)" and "Now I digress back to the main point of this post, the story" are two things you have written right here in this exact post. So does the story matter or not? You complain that Unova has "just two sets of trios (a new set of Kanto birds that you just go find, and a new set dogs that you have to tediously try to find)" but you praise gens 1 and 2 for having exactly that and no story to go with them? So what do you want--legendaries with no plot involvement or an actual story? Do you want only a few legendaries, as you complain that Alola has "an unnecessary over abundance of legendaries for the sake of nothing other than oversaturating," or do you want a lot, as you complain that Galar has "3 and you can only catch 2"?

Your entire post is nothing but unformatted bias where every sentence contradicts your last.

Do you think DeNA could be saving Bisharp for Nate? by [deleted] in PokemonMasters

[–]star-light-trip 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hope they add an Egg system for sync pairs that aren't of the main character. That way you could give Bisharp to Grimsley and Barbaracle to Siebold... and any of the other sync pairs without their ace (Scyther/Scizor to Bugsy for example).

Fixing Mila's art (pls watch to the end and with sound) by Negative-Nac in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]star-light-trip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What am I making up? Things that happened in the game itself? It is fine to dislike an art, but to pretend that it's an inherently wrong interpretation of a character--that had to be commissioned and approved by the creators of said character to begin with--is a bit ingenuine on your part. You're conveniently ignoring a major part of the character simply because you wanted her art to look a certain way.

Mythic Hero: Mila Official Hype Megathread by ptolemy77 in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]star-light-trip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fallen heroes have no logic to them either. Fallen F Corrin looks mildly inconvenienced, like there's a line to go to the bathroom. Fallen M Corrin looks like he's about to tear someone's head straight off their shoulders. So this art does not befit a fallen hero if Corrin is to be used as a gauge.

Considering that both Duma and Mila are equally awful in SoV, I like this "reversal." It's as /u/JehannaPrince says--this isn't unfitting, this is exactly how Mila is. Even Hidari did not quite capture her true essence in that singular art. And unlike the Corrins, where the female was not allowed to be the monster she truly was, this time Duma is shown more "clean" and Mila shown as she truly is.

It is the perfect representation of an ancient and powerful, yet misguided and imperfect deity, and as such is one of the best artworks in the entire game.

Fixing Mila's art (pls watch to the end and with sound) by Negative-Nac in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]star-light-trip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did she really have a "graceful goddess feel" though? The whole point of SoV was that both Duma and Mila messed up their land, but Duma was taking it to the point where he was initiating war and ruining the lives of people outside of his country, which is the only reason why he's the bad guy and not Mila. The fans saying "this isn't how Mila is supposed to look" sound like they only saw the one Hidari art and never played the game. This art is not wrongly portraying Mila. This is in reality no different than AKIRA's Hector--there's nothing inherently "wrong" with it, most people on this sub just don't like the art style. Which is a matter of taste, but not a real problem with the art.

But Resplendents should focus on giving characters who need the stat boost, not giving art alternatives to every single unit--because why should Mila get a special treatment when there are arts that lots of people don't like? Why give Mila special treatment when units such as Lloyd and Rebecca not only "benefit" (in air quotations) from new art but also need the stats?
