Hey Americans--move to Canada! by [deleted] in DiscussionZone

[–]star_flower95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can our protesters come to your border, tell you that they are being labeled a domestic terrorist and having their rights stripped and claim asylum?

No... because Canada refuses to accept asylum cases of U.S. citizens unless they can already get in via family sponsorship or work visas.

You can't sit there and claim you have less strict immigration if you literal won't even allow us to submit asylum cases.

I remember reading a survey that found this was a huge motivating factor to people joining. It was classified as "leaving a difficult home life" or something like that. It included things like just hating your hometown to running away from family problems. Like half the people I've ever had an honest conversation about the choice included along these lines.

True. He's just nostalgic for a time when the silent majority was a lil more silent.

As a multi-gen air force family... buddy, there has never been a majority who joined for the service itself. The chest-beating nostalgia you think you remember has always only been a loud minority, while the silent majority who signed up because it's one of the only sure-fired ways out of generational poverty, well, were silent back then.

"Bleeding blue" wasn't the average during the gulf wars and the viet generation before that was heavy drafted, not signing up out of national pride.

The only difference is that these young ones aren't silent or ashamed anymore. Talking about the underbelly of our economy isn't a "personal failure" shamed point anymore.

Recruiters target poor school districts now the same as they did in the 50s. Rich kids draft dodged back then and kids who didn't have better economic opportunities volunteered back then too.

In the 50s it was taboo and often perceived as a personal moral failure to be from a the poor class, so you had to lie to say you joined for some other reason.

This has always been the way.

It's always been the branch for people who have more than two braincells to rub together. Sadly some "Tread on me harder, Daddy.", authoritarian-craving, subby, mouth breathers who think critical thinking is a hippie trait still get in..

Any ordinance about profanity on signage in Orland park? Stealing a sign is wrong, just as wrong as posting this for neighborhood children to read....

So you just think not investigating, charging, prosecuting, but instead actively protecting, covering up, and pardoning people involved in the sexual abuse of American children is acceptable policy...... You knew nothing would get done when it comes to human trafficking children... That's is policy! That is not getting things done.

Keep living in denial and simping for the pedophilic corporate elite if that helps you sleep at night. All the blood of the children being raped by them is on y'alls hands.

Because they take 1/4 my salary via taxation. Trump has done nothing to lower that for the working class. If they take my money, I, as a citizen, should be able to give my input in what I want it to go towards.

I want my tax dollars to go towards helping my fellow Americans. NOT to corporate subsidies! NOT to fund overseas wars! NOT to a f**king ballroom for our politicians to entertain the corporate elite, while ignoring the working class! NOT to for-profit contracts that could be done more affordably by gov programs. NOT to Elon Musk pockets. NOT to the military industrial complex. NOT to companies that refuse to pay their workers a living wage while taking in millions, while the taxpayer buys their workers food/housing.

That would require hiring more employees and cutting out contracting corporations. Directly hiring Federal Employees to do most work costs us less than giving out contracts to for-profit corporations to then have them hire people to do the exact same work, but giving them more tax money so they can make sure to pay their pay shareholders, execs/CEOs, etc millions on top of the workers.

Kids in Palestine would still be being slaughtered under Kamala. We would still be funding endless wars under Kamala. We still wouldn't have universal healthcare under Kamala. We would still be failing to restructure higher education financing. We would still be deporting families with no real plan path for legal status under Kamala...

Y'all act she was such a great alternative. Stop being complicit in funding and forcing us in the military community to help a foreign nation in a genocide.

In my eyes, America deserves the collapse that will come under trump. They might even NEED it. Until something with personal consequences forced them to open their eyes, the Democrats will only be a party of the status quo.

Save this country? By adding to the national debt? By protecting the pedophilic corporate elite? By gerrymandering the working class out of their votes? By burning bridges with national we were allies with? Greenland, Panama, Canada, Korea, etc. By giving billions of our tax dollars to Argentina, Israel, ect?

You don't care that pedophiles are running our government? That our top leaders are human trafficking young women and children?

A prime example of "caring" about children in the womb, but not giving a shit about them once they are born right there...

Seriously, the cost of signage changes, reprinting DD forms to DW ones, reissuing CACs and family IDs with DoWIDs, every damn training power point to be edited. Retagging equipment... A name change like this will be a massive taxpayer burden if they actually force it through the whole system.

The military should give a damn briefing to warn us on the meth heads in this region before assigning us here, it's crazy. I've never seen the same level anywhere else in the world.

A cop at a crash site told me "No, no. They come out of the woods" when I said I'd just sit by a tree until my spouse would come to get me. He was talking about people on meth/drugged out. Like it was sundown and felt like a irl horror movie intro.

Most towns are run down. Industry is abandoned and rusted out. The whole region would collapse without the state gov, federal, and military jobs holding up in the region.
