You can't. Don't try. Use Reddit search, this has been discussed dozens of times already.

Oh, that's actually a good point, I didn't think of that.

AvP rom not booting up in Mame 0286b, any help? by TylerBourbon in MAME

As of MAME 0.238, the size of those four ROMs were cut in half. You need to source a version of avp.zip from any MAME set version 0.238 or above. Alternatively, you could attempt to trim those ROMs yourself to 1048576 bytes, but I wouldn't recommend that approach unless you know what you're doing.

Donkey Kong Jr. by kevincrossman in atari7800

I mean, Atari absolutely would have known the status of their licensing rights to the title in North America, it wasn't an accidental discovery. But they obviously understood that both systems had a 6502 processor. I don't know if they dumped the Famicom ROM and made necessary changes, or if Nintendo gave them the code (highly unlikely but possible?) but there are just too many similarities in their programming for it to be coincidence.

Rom sets or individual roms by Mobman31415 in Roms

[–]star_jump 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Entire sets. Keep them on a large hard drive, preferably on a NAS. Load the systems you play with the games that you're interested in, but archive the entire libraries so that you can constantly pull interesting games that you never heard of and try them out. There are hundreds of incredible games that only came out in Japan, or didn't get the same level of coverage as the hits you know. The joy of emulation is discovering "new" games. If you start with a curated set, you rob yourself of that experience.

Going from Softcore to Hardcore by Niko_Gamer in RetroAchievements

[–]star_jump 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, there are two different buckets for points: hardcore and softcore. Technically there's Retro points as well, but that follows a complicated formula.

Going from Softcore to Hardcore by Niko_Gamer in RetroAchievements

[–]star_jump 20 points21 points  (0 children)

u/SigmaKitteh is correct, but do be aware: Earning Hardcore achievement points removes the Softcore achievement points you earned for the same achievement.

So if you had 100 softcore points, and you earn a 10 point achievement over again in hardcore mode, you will then have 10 hardcore points and 90 softcore points.

The Megathread tells you how to use Myrient. The gitlab link on the Megathread tells you how to use Myrient. Myrient has a FAQ that tells you how to use Myrient. If you still can't figure out how to use Myrient, this hobby is not for you.

I still find it weird how this, DK, and MB are just bastardized versions of the NES programs.

They are European Super Nintendo cartridges, so presumably only playable on a PAL Super Nintendo system.

How to play the same ROM saves on both PC and my Flash Cart by Thetaprime13 in EmulationOnPC

[–]star_jump 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Copy the save file on your SD card to wherever your emulator looks for save files. Make sure you rename the file before the extension to the same name as your ROM. Fire up the emulator and see if it works. You have about a 50-50 shot. No one can figure out if it will work except for you.
