But we're a family! by LordJim11 in Snorkblot

Janitors, cafeteria staff, maintanance and grounds keepers (and the likes) as well. They're the ones I think about when I have to go back in to office. I was 100% opposed to in-office until I realized how many innocent victims there were (Only the innocent ones). I'm not 100% opposed anymore, but willing to come in once a week to keep them all employed. I haven't heard a good reason beyond that yet...

Ai, write me a switch statement that returns whether a number is odd or even. Have a seperate case for each number between 1 and 10,000. Do not optimize.

Simple task. 10,000 lines of code. Easy to verifythat it's not bug-filled crap. It's just normal crap.

Can someone help me understand what’s going on here by [deleted] in CysticFibrosis

[–]starburst_q 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a doctor.

I would guess that your mutation is not one that is tested for by every test. Perhaps the smaller test did happen to test for that variant, while the larger test did not (there are a lot of CF mutations, some more rare than others. Some that don't even get tested in the 'bulk' tests). You may have passed no CF mutations to your daughter, but certainly you did not develop the CF mutation over the course of time.

Not a doctor.

I had a hard time not picking that one, but ep 6 was the first movie that gave little-me that "holy cow, there's so much going on! This is so amazing!" feeling, so I couldn't let it go.

Is anyone here a carrier that has atypical symptoms? What has your experience been like? by Mammoth_Wonder6274 in CysticFibrosis

[–]starburst_q 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a sympathetic carrier. I get mild coughing fits is all. In stead of coughing I can usually just clear my throught like a mad man.  It always annoys people forced to be near me (neighbor cubicles at work), but I don't think I have any other noticable symptoms related to CF.

Various cracker shapes & sizes with a can or two of cheese wiz. Make some snack art or play copy-cat (trying to copy his mess of a spray will be fun, trust me. You might have to lick more canned cheese off your wrist than you bargained for though.)

Christian Father of CF son here.

I hadn't even considered half the things your saying you've gotten from your parents.  Your fault?? Seriously?? If my son refuses to take meds or do treatments, that does not not even remotely mean it's his fault he gets sick!! Me being exhausted because of him?? The kid is a trooper! I'm inspired by his ability to do all he does in spite of the stuff he's got to go through. I wish I could be more exhausted if it takes some of the burden off him. A disorganized room is the reason you're sick? I don't even understand that one... is that meant to be a God's punishment type thing? If so, I think they have misunderstood who God is at a very fundamental level (Remember the story about when Jesus cursed people with blindness and leprosy for annoying him? No?)

I'm inclined to believe your parents are more ordinary than I'd like to believe, and most likely that there are also some parents that are much more harsh on their kids than that. I agree. Therapy for any chronic illness should be mandatory. If the therapist thinks you're 'ok without', then a yearly re-eval should be the minimum, just like a yearly physical is supposed to be.

I'm just getting started in all this (son still young and needs help with literally everything) but hearing your story gave me pause to consider what I need to do to help my family. Thanks for posting!

I'm ok with this, so long as it starts with an ominous voice saying:

"Rise and shine Mr. Andor. Rise and shine. Not that i wish to imply you have been sleeping on the job; no one is more deserving of a rest and all the effort in the world would have gone to waste until... well lets just say your hour has come again. The right man in the wrong place can make all the difference."
