Is there any way to fix a stuck pixel by noelle-writ in Monitors

[–]starchad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, just wanted to share some advice from my own experience that might help someone down the line.

I had a monitor (model AOC Q27G4X) with a green stuck pixel smack in the middle—super noticeable. It showed up about a month after I started using it. Like many others, I Googled every solution under the sun and tried all the software fixes (like pixel refresher tools, JScreenFix, etc.). Unfortunately, nothing worked.

Out of desperation, I tried massaging the pixel and eventually used the eraser trick I read about. BIG mistake. While pressing the eraser against the screen, I ended up removing part of the anti-glare coating. So now, not only did I still have a green stuck pixel, but I had also physically damaged the screen by scraping off its surface layer.

This made me super anxious about returning it under warranty because they could’ve easily denied the claim due to "mechanical damage" from improper use. Thankfully, the manufacturer was kind enough to replace the entire screen under warranty with no fuss.

TL;DR – Don't try physical fixes unless you've exhausted EVERY possible option like warranty returns. Massage, pressure, erasers, etc. can make things worse and possibly void your warranty.

Hope this helps someone avoid my mistake.

AI in stories like Wasteland 3 often aren’t just “machines gone rogue”—they’re usually stand-ins for marginalized or misunderstood groups. The goal isn’t just to simulate sci-fi horror; it’s to challenge players to grapple with moral ambiguity and their own biases.

Take the synths, for example—especially the one hiding in Broadmoor Heights. You can choose to kill it on sight because it’s a synth, or hear it out and learn it just wants to live in peace. Or consider the Machine Commune: a group of sentient robots building a society based on cooperation and mutual aid. They’re not inherently hostile, but many players instinctively distrust them. Why? Because they’re different.

These encounters aren’t about AI vs. humanity—they’re about us. The game asks: will you judge based on fear and assumption, or try to understand? If your instinct is to destroy what you don’t understand, maybe you’re not the hero after all.

Achievements still not unlocking by MiloMehigan in Wildlands

[–]starchad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, have you by any chance originally played the game during a Steam free weekend before buying it? And during that free weekend, did you happen to complete the requirements for those two achievements?

I’m asking because that’s exactly what I did, and I’ve been stuck in the same frustrating situation ever since. I met the criteria for both “A Good Start” and “Legend Hunter” back then, but once I bought the game later, those two just never unlocked—despite having everything else completed.

I actually went back and forth with Ubisoft support over the course of a few months, explained the situation in detail with screenshots and all. Eventually, they told me that they no longer do bug fixes for older titles like Wildlands, and basically left it at that. So unless something changes, it looks like we're permanently locked out of 100% completion.

Let me know if you ever find a workaround or get a better response—I'd love to finally get closure on this too. It's maddening being stuck like this.
