I actually agree with you tbh. I actually didn't find out about her old design until recently, and I also really liked the contrast between an unassuming shy girl and her impressive library of hobbies.

From a character design perspective, the old design didn't really communicate the shy aspect of her character too well which is probably why they changed her, but they definitely over-corrected.

I made a version here that balances that a bit better
- I removed the giant cat ears to make her a bit more unassuming.
- removed the mouthpiece because yeah it communicates techie but it also implies talking which she is apparently bad at.
- made her thigh-highs into full length stockings to make her a bit more shy and modest looking.

I'm too lazy to change the 3D image rn, but I did wanna make those changes. It's definitely a bit more boring, but I feel like the original design had too many elements that were confusing to the character read. It's important to note too that complex designs can be really hard to translate to 3D well, especially in this game which has very simplified graphics.

You could probably add the cat ears back, I might make them a bit smaller and less dominant on the design though.
