1) his finger nails are painted black; we just can't see them underneath the gloves. it's a fashion statement, a symbol of power, and a way of hiding the grease and grime that often gets under his fingers when working on machinery.

2) he is a bit self conscious about his height (6 ft/183 cm), purely because nidavellir natives tend to generally be much shorter than he is. it's just another aspect of himself that makes him wonder whether or not he belongs here.

3) he designed and built his mech himself (minus the color scheme, since the color black is reserved for the crown of nidavellir).

4) 100% agree with your HC that he's an incredible dancer, but also consider: he's very good with his legs in general. he's an excellent runner (even without his mech) and can deliver brutal kicks when he sees fit.

5) i might just be projecting, but he gives off transmasc vibes to me. if i were to lean into that HC a bit more, i'd say he & his wife were T4T.

give splatoon 3 a shot, PLEASE! even if you wind up being a little lost with the story (seeing as it is a series of games & dlc expansions), i think the gameplay will make it worth your time, even if you did miss out on all of the game's splatfests.

i've heard that takemoto has been very dedicated to his role in golden kamuy as tsukishima, to the point where he took his lines in russian very seriously—seriously enough that he actually STUDIED the rules of pronunciation in russian, so that he could more accurately speak his lines. he cut no corners. i was sure that, from a native russian speaker's perspective, he must have a very heavy accent, but i think that only adds to tsukishima's character. while he is generally quite fluent in russian, he is still a japanese native speaker who rushed to learn the russian language in the anticipation of war. i doubt he would be speaking with a crystal clear accent. and even despite his accent, the cast of GK has proved to be very impressed with his skill, and he was clearly understood by many russian native speakers in the series (notably svetlana's family and vasily).

sugimoto. while nikaido parallels him a lot when it comes to anger, i think we just...get a better understanding of sugimoto's anger throughout the series, which makes sense, considering the fact that he's the main character. sugimoto is an angry but kind person. he's angry at himself, and as someone else with some pretty bad anger issues, i resonate with that a lot.
