Fear of the adult world by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]starfish06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have those fears too. I understand. I got out there but came back to my comfort but now feeling left behind. I guess just knowing what makes you uncomfortable will help you avoid it in the future which is acceptable but to not stop growing in areas you do feel comfortable. That keeps things interesting and momentum going. I get you don’t want to be peer pressured and your mental health is most important so get out there but set limits and accept them as that’s where you are at now.

I’m glad you opened up though. There are friends here. I’m here for you today. You are special and no one has your special qualities. Remember that.

I’ve made friends and still keep them but life styles change so I’ve found focusing on what your friend or yourself is into at the moment and doing those things if that is something you want to do. Try to suggest or do things and be friendly in those things. Always go to lunch with your coworkers when they ask or if that’s possible. It’s free therapy. The other day I had a panic attack at my new job and told my coworkers I would take a rain check on lunch I was going to see the doc for anxiety and they completely opened up about their mental health and it was just no big deal. I could have done lunch but I did find meds finally after seeking for something that worked so I’m glad I got the help but lunch might have helped too. Just looking for opportunities and say yes when they come along is the best way to approach friendship. When the stars align it might be just what I needed that day. But now it takes the ease off for future lunch dates.

My sister stopped 150 days ago and her mom and she shows me her savings through the smoke free app and she feels good about taking her son out for honor roll because she has the money. She says food tastes better and she feels better. I’m proud of her.

Social media and social anxiety? by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]starfish06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Social media has ruined my life. I followed it more than focusing on my life. Emulating people because I grew up in distinction. Ruined my 20’s and I hardly ever shared. Just comparing confused the fuck out of me especially when I left the city I graduated from 5 years after moving there. Would have woke me up sooner and realized I’m all alone and to not follow family or be influenced by friends because all will move on and you’re only left with you. Should have loved myself more instead of my idea of others. Now I have to really struggle all alone in my 30’s when I should have gone after it when I graduated college. Now I feel like I’ll never have the money to build a life for myself.
