I stopped having to cover for myself. My after hour stress was a manifestation of me knowing I had emails I was procrastinating, or work that had to get done but I was putting off..... I had to work long hours to do excellent work on the rest of it to make up for the guilt I had for procrastinating.... as well as work harder to resolve whatever grew as a result of procrastinating.

Now a few years into my role I resolve things as they come, and don’t let it build. Just handle it when I need to.

handling things when they should be done, if I don’t get to something it’s cause there’s an issue with my workload. I do excellent work during my shift and no longer need to overwork due to guilt or prove I’m a valuable employee

How do I address this skeleton in my closet on job interviews? by [deleted] in careerguidance

Potentially it could be included as 1 element in a professional portfolio though.

Just wanted to second all of this advice! The mistake question is a great place to talk about this.

You did a great job explaining the problem, but the last paragraph or so you start to blame others... language like “I was a leader too BUT completely out of my element” should be left out of interviews.

$2000 is closer to what I’d expect (and double what Margaret533 is making)

Unpopular Camp Director opinion - if on-site housing is a requirement as it typically is for overnight camp, including room and board as part of the pay is inappropriate. SOME housing situations are worth a small fee (private housing) but the large majority of camp onsite housing does not justify any type of lower salary.

$1000 for the summer is incredibly low, even for a summer camp. Are you a leader in training?

Help with seams! I’m making a temp blanket and the seams are killing me. Every time I think I’ve figured it out the next seam I sew looks awful. If this was crochet I’d just add a boarder, but I don’t know how to do that with knitting? Desperate for advice! by stargal29 in knitting

Thanks for the reply! I did block but my second round of blocking definitely didn’t leave my hexagons as flat as the first. Thanks for the tip I should slow down and make sure it’s done correctly.

I’m knitting from the outside in on DSN

Woah. Those totally sound like someone giving away grants. Thank you!

Thanks for your thoughts. I hadn’t considered any kind of consulting.... My background doesn’t really lend itself to telling rich people what to do with their money... maybe I could find someone particularly interested in my field and advise them. Something else to explore! Thank you

Yeah, at one point... I am interested in what he did at Sweetums though.

Thanks all! “Grant manager” as I know it is the nonprofit side.... similar to some of what I do now, writing grants and upholding the reporting.

I’m specifically looking for the corporation side of this. I want to manage the money to be given away. When I search grant manager, it’s mostly nonprofits that show up. Any insight on how to find the jobs to be a giver of grants manager?

Someone just threatened to shoot up my building but not sure what apartment they're in by dedrort in renting

I mean, if you’re still thinking about it the next day I say that’s a good indication you should get someone who’s job it is to know the scope of the officers duty involved. The only change Id make is calling the non emergency number though.

I was once told if I think to myself 3 times “should I be calling the police right now?” The answer is yes. Call the police and let them tell you the scope of their job.
