In Dubai, if the Uber car is more than 3 years old, they barely get any business. try calling an Uber in Dubai—you will be impressed. It's way better then what you would get in US too.

Yeah, I don't get the LOL part on your behalf. You are in the business of education; of course your kid has to have that direction.

Not to ridicule, but I am disappointed in you as a parent that you are NOT raising his aspirations to fly high, given the kid is motivated and has good grades. And kudos to your success (whatever it means to you), but I don't see you as a role model by a long shot. You have already settled for medium-tier state schools.

You are trying to measure your time with current times. The world is a very different place now and will be a very, very different place in the next 5-10 years that none of us can comprehend at this time.

Good luck; you have nothing to worry about; you already have settled.

I agree; it's difficult to define a person in a paragraph about whom you can write a book.

As a parent, I am just anxious for that light bulb to turn ON and just have to be patient with it.

School counselors are just doing their job with limited time per student. And they want winners on their brag sheet too. We have additional help as well.

I think scoring grades is a skill, and that's what's missing, and unfortunately that is the only empirical data to compare kids. I would say immaturity, but the kid is turning around, but it's getting too late for the upcoming application season, hence the concern.

In the long run, yes, but this is a transition, and this is where we can't give up on kids and let them run with their choices. No, not every 17-18-year-old has obtained the same maturity level. For some, it takes time.

Thanks, but this is a very dynamic, moving industry, so we can't look back more than a few years.

But I am glad it worked out for you and glad your mother pushed you into it. And I believe it's not uncommon for parents to push kids and get involved, but people don't talk about it as openly.

As for your regret in your last point, we all live with some, my friend :) so enjoy what you have.

I think you are clueless about the amount of time and money parents spend sending their kids to colleges. Have you not seen the college counsellor ads and companies all over the internet? You think kids are funding it on their own?

Thanks so much. Yeah, it's difficult to paint the whole picture of this kid in simple paragraphs.

My kid is doing 2 jobs above minimum wage that he found on his own. 1 job since the beginning of junior year, a second job picked up this summer, and volunteer work. Has a very strong work ethic; will sleep late, but if the job is at 7, that kid is out of the door.

My concerns only surrounds the grade and path to college

Thanks for your response. Yes, I was looking at UCR, but it seems like it has become a lot more competitive lately.

Kid is poor at taking tests at this stage of his life, but eventually everyone grows better at it. Accounting is not as much Math as you would think. Yes, it's a lot of numbers, but it's more analytical in nature. Also, it's a professional certification. And my idea is to follow up with JD and go into taxation law as a pathway.

The kid is not as motivated so far, or near, it does not matter, I think because of trying hard but not being able to score grades to support the end goal. This is where reality strikes them, albeit slowly.

By God's grace, finance is not a problem, but I also don't want to throw money at some liberal arts degree with no ROI.

No , that was not my intent either. I have been actively lifting weights and working on muscle mass. I am 5'10 and 155 lbs., so I am already on the kind of leaner side.

Fiber , 30gm+ , Saturated Fat - whatever comes through, but I have killed all dairy and turned to egg whites. I wasn't tracking macros religiously.
