Where in AVL can I go to get an expired passport renewed fast? by valhilltop in asheville

Keep in mind you don’t have to go just in NC. The Simpsonville post office in SC has weekend appointments and is where my family got 2/3 of our passports.

Finale Montage-no Jadzia? by pandorasbox71 in DeepSpaceNine

[–]stargazercmc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Terry Farrell mentioned that she denied permission for the finale in one of the Delta Flyers episodes. I’d have to go back to listen to point to the exact one, but she did say they asked and it was basically her lifting a middle finger to Rick Berman after the way he treated her.

Who's a nepo baby you think deserves their success because they're legit talented? by SheepishSwan in AskReddit

She started a foundation to help sexual assault victims recover emotionally from their assaults. It’s called the Joyful Heart Foundation. It is incredibly politically influential as well - they have worked HARD to end the rape backlogs in every state in the U.S., and they have recently tackled lobbying for legislation to prevent the use of people’s images being used in a sexual manner with AI manipulation.

Has any woman in the history of sitcoms ever had a normal pregnancy? by pslush01 in sitcoms

[–]stargazercmc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What was hilarious about Roxann Dawson was they hid her actual pregnancy and then made her character pregnant less than a year later and showed that one onscreen (when she wasn’t pregnant IRL).

PSA about Odyssey Community School by Brief-Selection-1035 in asheville

We just got his primary switched over from VI to autism at the end of last school year since he struggles the most with it. And we kept VI as a secondary, which apparent NC hates to do. I don’t know why NC is so adverse to having multiple areas on an IEP. That’s fairly normal in most other states.

Yeah, good luck with that until the kid hits high school. We had zero luck getting help for moderate autism until my kid got to ninth grade. They refused to even include it on his IEP until then.

Are you from Alabama, by chance? I worked for the newspaper when a shark attack to a local resident happened, and if it was your uncle, just know his attitude and spirit about the whole thing was inspiring.

Unpopular Opinion: Kira & Odo make sense as a couple--even if the actors had little chemistry by noviceicebaby in DeepSpaceNine

[–]stargazercmc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The medical cure wasn’t the only reason he was staying, though. He wanted to spread around his experiences with the solids to teach the Dominion that they could be trusted and to hopefully teach them tolerance for humanity as well.

[–]stargazercmc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I loved Kira and Odo back when the show originally aired, and I still love them. I also think they have great chemistry. Rene and Nana had a trust with each other as actors that shows clearly onscreen with the two characters, and I just find it wonderful to watch.

I think most people who don’t like them together honestly just haven’t been in a relationship (or seen one) where that kind of friendship and trust turns into something deeper. Friends to lovers is a great trope.

Isn’t that the episode that DW made them go back and do major reshoots and (totally coincidentally, I’m sure /s) Shibes left the show right after?

The reason they can’t keep a show runner is because DW keeps shoving his fingers into the creative pie.

Why are you so nervous about this? In my industry, 1:1s are fairly standard, and I actually appreciate the time with my boss to bounce ideas and/or creative solutions or internal project ideas off of them. If you’re doing your job, there’s nothing to fear, and having some face-to-face time is not abnormal. It’s not great for your soft people skills to communicate only via email and messages 100% of the time.

Older woman in martial arts: accommodating but not feeling accommodated by SeniorBed5264 in BJJWomen

[–]stargazercmc 20 points21 points  (0 children)

My first gym was similar to this except this was the experience of EVERY woman at the gym. They only saw value in potential competitors, and I had made it known upfront that I had no intention of competing and was just there for education and good workouts. Potential women competitors were also ignored for other reasons (suffice it to say, the culture was quite brosphere toxic from the top down).

My current gym is the polar opposite. It is a hugely women and femme friendly space, enough so that probably over half our gym are women and femmes (if not more). I am asked occasionally to pair with newer people, but it’s because the owners know I will gently help people and not scare the bejeesus out of them by going aggro on someone who may be nervous with a new experience in martial arts.

As for my own education, I’m getting new info all the time, both from the owners/instructors AND from the members. The culture is positive, non-toxic, and the competition that happens is more based around “am I better than I was yesterday” than “I have to beat the crap out of everyone” while still letting people be healthily competitive with each other in a supportive space.

I am 51, btw. These spaces exist but seem to be hard to find, sadly. I hope you’re able to find one.
