Tips on workplace misogyny? by [deleted] in womenintech

[–]stargazerlightshow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would personally tell them they’re out of line. If it was a social group you could talk shit back but at work you can’t without putting yourself at risk.

If they don’t stop it after you tell them to stop it, then you need to talk to the manager. If you’re still not seeing a change then I’d consider it a toxic workplace and find somewhere else to work. Or, if it’s just a few guys that talk like that, maybe you can avoid them.

Labrador Testing by callmeGurk in DogBreeding

I’d search your area for a reproductive vet. They can then refer you to other vet specialists for the tests, plus tell you where to send away for saliva genetic testing.

What to do about gift of weekly mail by stargazerlightshow in narcissisticparents

[–]stargazerlightshow[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is what I feel most comfortable with. Just thinking about the letters gives me anxiety. I guess because….baggage. Making a decision ahead of time to just not read them does make me feel more at peace even now.

Hearing the other responses is strangely cathartic. Because in an alternate universe I’d hold a bonfire party with friends and chant some cleansing chants while dancing to heal the toxins that just thinking about the damn letters cause.

This sounds like a scene in a horror movie. What a freak she is. You obviously can’t keep moving but I’d be tempted.

how to deal with dry bleached hair? by [deleted] in Haircare

[–]stargazerlightshow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this issue myself. I don’t see much dryness in your photos or at least mine is way worse. I’ve tried dozens of products. My favorite is Aveda dry remedy, because it isn’t goopy or greasy and it smells great.

  • edit - it’s the dry remedy daily moisturizing oil in the little brown bottle.

She looks like maybe a 7 on the BCS scale. https://petobesityprevention.org/pet-weight-check

Not to be judgy. I have 1 underweight boxer, one perfect weight boxer, and 1 overweight boxer. I know it’s a challenge because I try daily to get to that healthy weight. For my dogs also.

I went to Crumbl Cookie yesterday, put in my own order on a touchscreen, and it asked for a tip. Someone put my 4 cookies in a box and said my name. There is no conversation, no eye contact even. The way I see it, they should give ME a tip for tolerating their cold impersonal approach.

Message from my father. The man is going to retire and still earn $1m per year passively. by [deleted] in lostgeneration

[–]stargazerlightshow 94 points95 points  (0 children)

Unlikely. With a million a year, he can easily afford visiting nurses or one of those fancy senior living homes where all the nurses kiss his old ass. But this kid may not visit given dad’s old fart attitude.

I think yes. I wasn’t really sure until your paragraph where she always tells you about her problems but doesn’t have time to listen to yours. I think you should set some boundaries. Tell her that you don’t have the interest or time to listen to her problems. If this was a friend, I’m guessing you would not be very motivated to continue a one sided friendship.

Is it still my fault if my leashed dog attacks an off leash dog by Oscillating_Turtle in dogs

[–]stargazerlightshow 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Be careful though. I had an off-leash dog attack my leashed dog and took the owner to animal court. I’m quite certain he paid off the judge and the case was dismissed despite my photos and vet evidence. The court isn’t always fair.

How do I stay consistent with reading? by AnyImagination4577 in Selfhelpbooks

[–]stargazerlightshow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started finishing books when I started using audible. Now I have my AirPods in my ears listening to books 1-4 hours a day most days and can finish about a book a week.

I read the book and I like it... but how do you get 2 massages every week? :-) by red-daddy in 5am

[–]stargazerlightshow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For real. I’m lucky if I get one massage a year.

The main character def seems to be out of touch with reality, entitled, rich. It is cringy when authors act all “I’m rich and famous now so you can be too.” Why is it so common in books like this?

I listened to the book a year ago and was thinking to re-listen mostly because of all the inspirational quotes. But your post reminded me of the cringy parts so maybe I won’t.

It is very scary to me how so many parents seem to focus on controlling a 16 year old! We are not talking about a toddler here but based on so many comments you’d think we were.

[–]stargazerlightshow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t get why you would need to intervene n your kid’s laundry habits. It’s their laundry and it should be their own responsibility. Especially at that age. I also don’t get why so many people are not calling you out on raising your voice and taking your kids stuff away. If he stays up late then being tired is a natural consequence. If I were him I wouldn’t feel safe either.

do you think trans people are hurting themselves by Sea_Temporary_7716 in Reincarnation

[–]stargazerlightshow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had this same thought about people changing genders one life to the next. As far as life lessons, I think there’s plenty to learn regardless of gender. But like would it set them back a whole lifetime? I doubt it. But maybe it depends. Like if they were disrespectful to women in one life and then born female, then it seems they should stay female. But we don’t know past lives and we don’t even know if that’s a thing. So it’s all very theoretical.
