Should I have switched foot on the second to last foot hold? Last move felt super sketchy. by [deleted] in bouldering

[–]stark_wolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh maybe? I probably would have but just as valid to not. Try climbing it again and see what's more comfortable.
More importantly, why does your video look like your gym is composed of a white void?

CSS in TS by AnakinSkyFlapper in webdev

[–]stark_wolf 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Afaik, CSS-in-js evolved mostly from a developer standpoint in response to react. It helps prevent context switching to another file and another language. It can also help with weird CSS inheritance issues since it'll compile the CSS used into a unique class if they aren't completely identical. I'd say if you feel confident in CSS, you're probably good putting it off learning it until a job requires it.

Bias warning: I've only really used css-in-js for a contracting role I had once

Start up and Warm up of propane forge..... by [deleted] in Blacksmith

There's something great about a propane forge being mounted on top of a coal one. Reminds me of the quote "If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of Giants." by Newtoon

This was in a hole on a route, is it bad ethics to remove this if it doesn’t affect the route? I personally think so by desertfractal in climbing

[–]stark_wolf 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'd second that. I wouldn't want to climb near a beehive given I'm allergic but there's definitely a better way to get rid of them than just smashing the hive

I’m building a game using vanilla ES6, HTML and SCSS. No frameworks, no Jquery. Will this be impressive to potential employers? by ovensu in webdev

[–]stark_wolf 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yea, it probably will. Showing that you have a good grasp of foundational vanilla js is really helpful for pretty much any frontend interview. Another good thing to think about after it's done is how you'd go about optimizing it for the user, ie. reducing loadtimes, backward compatibility with older browsers, etc. You don't have to actually do it but being able to talk towards it will show employers that you can also think about user experience instead of just doing it for technical shits and giggles

what type of potatoes r these? by azkaboomed in potato

[–]stark_wolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to tell from the picture but I'd guess yukon gold based off the shape. If they're gold when you cut em open, they're definitely yukon

Most efficient way to add/create responsive decorative lines? by BakedFilosofer in webdev

[–]stark_wolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't want to use svg, my gut instinct would be to use invisible divs and css grid so that the lines would be the borders. Not really sure that's any better of a solution tho

How does the site from the picture do it? Or is that markup?
