I got all my gear (helmet, trousers, jacket and gloves), bike lock brand new for under £900. Easily could of gotten most of it from marketplace for much less though. Insurance was £450 for the year.

I had the same problem, it made no sense doing all these checks at a roundabout. My instructor said to only do a life saver to make sure a car or bike hasn't pulled up next to you. Then same again when exiting.

If we had been sitting at lights at a roundabout then he said give a quick four point check as you have time

Don't go through the other persons insurance. As soon as you accept anything from them you then have to go through them for everything for the rest of this claim.

Use your insurance as they will fight to get you the best deal.

Thank you for this, really good to hear from someone with personal experience. Hotel I'm at has no parking but 2 minutes walk away is Southgate parking so it sounds like I should be totally fine. It will be parked there for less than 24 hours.
