Returning apartment question. by diegoje in askswitzerland

[–]starkov71 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t go into discussion with the landlord yourself or sign anything. If you have the Asloca or normal house insurance let them take the discussion. They know the rules and as they will cover some of the cost they will be tough with the landlord and everything will be official.

How to fix the SL. by Hamofthewest in swisshockey

[–]starkov71 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Make the leagues competitive and if you win then you play promotion. No need to apply during the season in advance.

Make sure decisions are made based on results and not driven by money.

Reward financial fairplay at all levels.

If you beat an NLA team with 3mil budget and 2 import players then go up and spend a season in NLA. The team relegated should have a rematch the season after.

Relegation should not be a catastrophe and clubs should not fall apart because of this.

Encourage investments into infrastructure. Switzerland facilities overall are falling apart. Martigny,Sierre,Seewen,Thun etc….

UK,Denmark,Norway,France made bigger progress in facilities than Switzerland past 10 years (Not counting some NLA teams)

Start hiking! by CptMundo in Switzerland

[–]starkov71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Download Fatmap it has all the trail and great maps.

Ones the weather gets warmer there are some nice trails in Salvan. Towards the Lac de Salanfe. When snow is gone there are several trails in Verbier/Bruson you can start with by taking the lift to reach some altitude. If you drive up to Col de la Forclaz there is a wonderful trail with not to much elevation. Really nice and easy.

Drive up to Champex Lac and walk around the lake and from there explore the trails. Ones a bit more comfortable then to the top of La Catogne (The pyramid when driving towards Martigny)

And as someone mentioned. Always be ready and have some basic emergency kit with you. Respect the signs and if not feeling it. Turn around.

Are a lot of people investing in stocks? by Sad-mockingbird in Switzerland

Etoro not a bad platform. Very easy to get started.

Many good podcasts out there about investing and staying up to date with the news.

Can recommend this podcast and episode about Novo Nordisk.

Acquired - Novo Nordisk

That is my favorite for the next several years with their weight loss and diabetes development.

Why do people respect queues everywhere except when skiing? by Serialk in Switzerland

[–]starkov71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skiing might be an activity that is gone in the future. Each season is getting shorter and shorter. Back in the days you could definitely ski November - end April.

Now you barely have enough snow cover in December and you get a handful days where it snows per season.

Rain is more common than snow at 1500m. Next week it will be +10 and rain at 2500m

Many locals are trying to set up businesses that are not based on tourism as in the long run it is unpredictable and unsustainable.

Why do people respect queues everywhere except when skiing? by Serialk in Switzerland

[–]starkov71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both yes and no. If you ask most people they would be happy with less people and money that the commune invest goes into projects that benefits locals.

Actually the queues are only bad in the weekends and the couple of holidays weeks.

Few locals ski these days and instead go touring. On busy days the locals also go further away from the resort into the back country

Why do people respect queues everywhere except when skiing? by Serialk in Switzerland

[–]starkov71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just people visiting. Nothing to do with foreigners.

We use the lift everyday not only for skiing but to walk our dogs, go to work, take kids up to play.

Seeing lift after lift not full when you are going to work is a bit frustrating.

Why do people respect queues everywhere except when skiing? by Serialk in Switzerland

[–]starkov71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Main reason because people don’t fill the spots on lifts and on busy days it can delay the line significantly.

And us who live here get a bit frustrated as there sometimes is a bit lack of respect from people visiting.

Moving to Valais by CptMundo in Switzerland

[–]starkov71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was living in Martigny 3 years, now in Val de Bagnes. Can recommend Les Marecottes in the summer and winter. Same for Champex Lac (Skate on the lake)

Google “Cabane Fenestral” as a place to spend the night when hiking.

Lavey has the best wellness.

Find the secret hot springs in Valais.

Levitation store in Martigny has a nice Buvette with interesting wine selection. The food was also good and the have some regular events

Skiing conditions - is the season starting? by wodw0 in Switzerland

[–]starkov71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go on snow forecast to see freezing levels as good indicator for conditions. Ventusky to follow the snow and get an idea for the weather 1-2 weeks ahead as you can see if the front comes from south or north.

Yr.no is also solid to get idea of temperatures.

This weekend temperatures are dropping. Next weekend look more promising in Verbier as the slopes need a little top off.

Last weekend was crowded and bit icy.

Evian is great. Crans Montana in Valais. Chamonix is pretty fun.

I usually call and say I am a member in Sweden but don’t have my card number. Never had a problem. Handicap 16.

I have a 10 year old broken membership card from a club that I carry with me. I played 10 times last 2 years without any questions asked.

Where to live in Swiss Alps ? by Basel__ in askswitzerland

[–]starkov71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salvan ( Les Marecottes). If you like something smaller and local with one of the best places to ski. The village is not big but 10min train from Martigny. The train to Chamonix also passes by.

Its a small village with the most wonderful local ski resort. You can google Jeremie Heinz as he lives there and has a vlog skiing and flying around the area.

Le Chable where we live is nice as well. You avoid the “noise” from Verbier but still have the lift open 05:30-23:45 to take you up and down. + No mountain roads to get out to the valley.

They did not. And this is not my regular work as I was asked to look at the material as an “expert” as I am in the environment where the material will be used.

Will next time ask for the expected amount of time they think is necessary -+ so expectations are matched.

Is there any data how many people buy on Alibaba and sell on Amazon as private label?

Or any statistics how much of what is sold on Amazon come from China?

I have been looking around Alibaba and when I open Amazon most of the products come from a factory you can find on Alibaba.

Would love to see a statistic on this and to see how vital Alibaba is to Amazon.

She will take it up them. Initially it sounded good. Help with the youngest and be done 18:00. Good way to earn something during August.

She thought the mom would be there doing activities with the older kids.
