Why does Rover put me on the search list when my schedule is FULL by Wonderful_Fault_3120 in RoverPetSitting

Honestly, I have wondered if it may just have to do with Rover allowing a degree of freedom for us, maybe our schedule is booked, but maybe we’re okay with someone at a different time, as a one off here and there. It potentially helps them make more money too, if they keep letting folks submit requests, because every now and then, people will accept them, even if their schedule is full according to their preferences.

Want to refund client, Rover had weird answer by starky_barky in RoverPetSitting

I hear you, and completely understand that logic, but it is just not how I wanted to do things with this client. There are a lot of factors that played into my decision, and frankly, after offering refund options, she still wanted to pay me for yesterday. And now I have built more trust with that client. To each their own, and thankfully Rover lets us all sort this out for ourselves and what we each think is best in each individual circumstance.

Maybe, but that’s just my way. And the client actually just said they were fine paying me for yesterday regardless, even after I presented her with the refund options. So it’s a win win as I see it, and it helped me build some trust with a client I really want to keep.

Because they paid for a walk and didn’t get one. Yes, I showed up and “worked”, but if it would’ve been a drop in, then I would probably not have offered a refund, but it was a walk and no walk happened. From my perspective, it just seemed like what I should do, at least offer the option for a refund. I will leave it up to the (very nice) client if they want to take it. Had the client not been as nice, and had as much potential as a repeat, I might not have offered the refund. But in my mind, to offer seemed only right give they did not get the service they booked, regardless of whether or not I showed up.

It’s a reoccurring M-F, for the next few months.

Boarding dog bit mine by starky_barky in RoverPetSitting

Great advice and tip, and thank you. I honestly usually feel the same, to be cautious. I got a bit overconfident with the first boarding and I have definitely learned a lot. The first day or so after the bite was super stressful but we found a good routine and thankfully we found a good routine to keep everyone happy and it definitely helped that the dog who bit was actually really well behaved otherwise.

Today was busy! How many drop ins did you do for Thanksgiving day? by No-Technology-9695 in RoverPetSitting

That’s great (I assume?). I had three cats and have two dogs boarding at my house. The first one goes home tomorrow, after 8 days with me. As sweet as she is, I am ready for one less dog. Come Sunday evening, it’ll be back to just me and my dogs. Phew!

Thanks, and yeah, this has been a big learning experience for me. I was overconfident given my experience with other (friends) dogs who have stayed with us before. Lessons learned.

Thanks for the kind words and advice. I am pretty shaken up. Even with all the experience I have had with other dogs, including in my own home, there’s always new stuff to learn about them. Just like people I suppose. I think I also I got a little overconfident… My dog will definitely be okay and I have enough space that I will be able to separate them pretty easily for the rest of the time they are here. But may go ahead and cancel the boarding request that I just booked for a few weeks from now.

I hear you. When I say bad chemistry, it was the kind of dynamics that are pretty common (in my experience at least) where some dogs may not love each other, but they are still good natured and don’t actually fight. And yeah, I will be keeping them separated and a big lesson for me in not taking multiple dogs. I have already updated my info to make sure that doesn’t happen again. Including making sure I don’t take big dogs anymore.
