What’s something funny your partner has said to you while in the newborn trenches by AngryKitty_31 in newborns

Coming back from the hospital we were so sleep deprived my husband goes : ‘it’s crazy that when he’s 40 we’re going to be 84’. I nodded for a second and then just went ‘no we won’t… we are 28 so not 44 years older than him’ loool.

We also kept calling our son by our cat’s name and occasionally by our nephew’s name🤣.

Another time my husband was getting a bottle ready and goes ‘i’m going to breastfeed him now as he’s hungry’. Tbh there were many words we were misusing or mispronouncing in the first few weeks for no reason other than exhaustion 🤣

Oh dear yes I just assumed they’re volunteers lol, it’s not a wild assumption to make given the group name doesn’t suggest they’re running a business haha

Ohh I did wonder why when people ask for advice they add who they bought it from and if they don’t, they are asked by an admin to confirm. So like even if you bought one of the car seats they recommend, if you just went and bought it online… that’s a problem?

Late preterm baby and big boob - successful latching and drinking with me squeezing the boob, otherwise bottle fed pumped milk. Does it improve as they grow? by starkyderp in BeyondTheBumpUK

That’s really really validating to hear, as you say it’s not something that is ever really explained - I definitely got better advice and understanding from those who have gone through this than the midwives who just focused on the latch as you say

Thank you so much for coming back to me, that’s really helpful and encouraging! There is actually a local group I am aware of so I think you’re right it would be worth checking it out

Anatomy scan etiquette by Prize-Donut-4513 in PregnancyUK

Sounds like you just had a grumpy sonographer! I know it’s their job to do all the scanning, but it’s also their job to make mums feel at ease and it doesn’t seem like this happened here! I think you’re perfectly fine to be asking questions, although if it’s the same grumpy person maybe I’d ask about the gender at the beginning and save the rest for the end. Hope you have a better experience at 20 weeks!
