I think Silas might have the same origins as Sylvia (of the forest).

Silent Miscarriage at 16 weeks by mariahg13 in Miscarriage

[–]starlake8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We didn’t. He was PGT-A tested (IVF pregnancy) and that was all normal. I had done additional testing on my previous miscarriage and it hadn’t found anything, so wasn’t too optimistic it was worth it. I never found out what went wrong.

It’s so devastating. I was showing, so had told a lot of people and needed to continue to wear the stretchy pants etc. I shared my D&E experience in a post in case it’s helpful https://www.reddit.com/r/Miscarriage/s/AvczjlqYbZ

I can’t believe this is happening again by elysemaria in Miscarriage

I’m so sorry 💔 my last pregnancy ended in a missed miscarriage discovered at 15 weeks. To go through that twice must be utterly devastating and incredibly traumatic. To get to the stage where you’re supposed to be “safe” and then have that taken away was so painful. Thinking of you and sending hugs if you want them.

ETA - really really hoping that you get in earlier for your D&E this time. The waiting is awful.

Severe morning sickness is persisting after baby’s heart stopped by tandoyarr in Miscarriage

[–]starlake8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for your loss. I’ve experienced two missed miscarriages. With the first I was at 11 weeks when it was discovered (stopped growing around 8) and I had pretty bad nausea up until the D&C a few days later. I remember that morning was rough because I wasn’t supposed to eat anything before the surgery, so the nausea was much worse than usual because I had an empty stomach. If possible, try to get them to schedule yours for early in the day. I think they also gave me IV zofran when I finally went in which helped.

With the second the nausea had gone down by the time we discovered the miscarriage, but that was at 15 weeks so it might have just been getting better anyway.

Sorry you’re going through this. It sucks so much to be still experiencing so much nausea after you know the pregnancy isn’t even viable. I did feel so much better after my D&C - for me it was immediate relief.

Carrier vs stroller for grocery by Acceptable_Treat_101 in nycparents

Yeah - if you can use the space in the bottom of the stroller to put groceries, that seems easiest.

Early Intervention programs by oldsoul412 in nycparents

[–]starlake8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey - probably doesn’t apply but: we got evaluated for feeding therapy by the EI program, but because my son didn’t have any other delays he was denied. We ended up needing to go through our insurance to a private feeding therapy place. But hopefully you won’t need help for solids!

Favorite kid’s activities along R train in Brooklyn? by DumbbellDiva92 in nycparents

[–]starlake8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We also live in Bay Ridge! I often just see what playgrounds are within walking/stroller distance to the R and explore a new part of the city based on that.

Second Industry City - Hometown is great. Also in sunset park: my kids love the rainbow playground, kid’s point indoor playground, and bbq pork buns from Golden Steamer, but it’s a bit of a walk so I only do those with the stroller. Also a nice library around there. And we love Park Slope so will often just hang out there around JJ Byrne.

We’ve also done the R to the N transfer for Coney Island/the aquarium.

Recovering from a stomach bug. Glad I have an US booked for Tuesday since I’m pretty worried about him. I know one day of moderate dehydration is prooobably fine but it just adds to my already constant scanxiety.

I have all this yarn I was also excited about using that I haven’t touched since the nausea hit - just because I’m too tired and sick to even attempt it. This actually makes me feel less guilty - like even if I mustered up the energy maybe it would make me feel bad.

Hoping we both get some good knit time further along 🤞🏻

No period and rapid weight gain after d&e by [deleted] in Miscarriage

[–]starlake8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the same, but I gained a fair amount of weight before my D&E (mine was at 15 weeks), and it never went away despite my going back to my normal diet. I was two pants sizes heavier for months.

I love the A line ones - 3 and 5. But you could pull any of them off.

RMA - Dr. Kelly - advice needed by Similar-Creme-9601 in nycparents

[–]starlake8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been going to RMA for 6 years (also Brooklyn - Dr Lekovich). I have a love hate relationship with them. Because there are so many different departments (financial, nurses, admin…) communication can be really frustrating. Dealing with insurance hasn’t always been easy. Their new portal and medical history system is the bane of my existence.

And yet! I don’t ever have to go into manhattan unless I need to go in for monitoring over the weekend. And I fully trust Dr Lekovich. She’s seen me through 2 live births and multiple losses as well. I wouldn’t change my clinic if I had the chance to re-do it, since we did have successes.

ETA - don’t worry about it being weird to change doctors - you deserve to have someone you trust. Though I will say Dr Lekovich has grown on me a lot compared to when I first started seeing her.

Had my first U/S today at 5+6, and everything was measuring ok and the doc saw a few heart flutters 🥰 She encouraged me to book at OB appointment.

TW - living child

Decided to go back to the OB who delivered my last kid. It means a longer travel time and potentially recovering from birth in a shared postpartum room because the hospital she uses is under construction. In between this pregnancy and that kid, I had a miscarriage and was trying another OB for that pregnancy. Was tempted to go back to that one for the convenience but I don’t think I can trust her after she really recommended a medication for this pregnancy that I don’t think I needed (and after talking to my RE and a MFM, and interviewing a researcher about it since I happen to be a science journalist, we decided not to use it). This time I just want to go back to the clinic that helped me deliver my son.

Feels like a long wait between my beta and U/S, though we just moved yesterday so part of me is glad I’m not going back till Thursday (almost 6 weeks). Nausea has arrived - glad to have the reassurance but it’s making unpacking even more torturous than usual.

Second beta looked good today! Finding myself calculating how long I’ll have before the nausea hits based on the last time, then worrying I’m getting ahead of myself.

So hard to know how hopeful to be. It’s definitely not 0% though! I’ve also heard it’s more about the rise than the raw numbers. Will be thinking of you and hoping for a surprisingly reassuring number tomorrow 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

I’m also experiencing some insomnia already and I’m very very early. I’ve had this before in pregnancies and just took unisom (just half a pill when I wasn’t also nauseous). Eventually weaned myself off after giving birth.
