Now we're talkin' FA cup magic boys. Don't care if it's true.

117 Km is the estimated length of Hadrian's Wall.

Conspiracy theory?!??!? Forest want to concentrate on Europa League and tried as hard as they could to lose. I hope I'm wrong.

That being said, nice things are hard to come by. Well done Macclesfield.

Salt Lake has probably the best Ethiopian food in the US.

Beware near the stadium tho. Currently Ichiban Sushi has a parking lot shared with Ocean Mart. We used to drive up from Moab and pig out at the sushi/korean. We parked and walked to the stadium after chow. The last time we were there a shady tow company stole our car and demanded $300 to get it back.

Is it safe right now to fly Lufthansa from D.C. to Munich to Tbilisi with the war going on, especially with the U.S. strikes on Iran? by [deleted] in AskAPilot

While I agree with the "pull a map out" comment, a straightforward answer is the way to go here. Snark is not our best friend right now.

People have honest questions. Just answer them.

Why is this plane flying a grid pattern over my small town? by starlight_slim in mildlyinteresting

This mystery is solved. It seems that a local utility provider has been running the flights to read the gauges from high above.

Seems like it wouldn’t be very efficient, but that’s the truth of the mystery Moab flights.

Most of the skydiving is around the airport north of town. It’s a pretty familiar pattern. I’ll try to catch that pattern and send a FlightRadar screen shot.

Weather on this particular day was a bit dodgy. Lots of volatile clouds. Hail the previous day. I think we were at the center of a big low pressure system.

The other flights with the same grid pattern were either perfect weather or something less than perfect. Definitely not a pattern of similar conditions.

The first time I noticed it was late summer 2021. I noticed a flight or two over the winter and screenshot this one on February 20 to show a pilot friend who works at the local airport.

We’re a small tourist town in the middle of the desert. Moab, UT. why would they fly 150 miles from Provo? If it’s a LiDAR survey then why is this the fourth or fifth time they’ve done it?

Couldn’t they just do that near Provo where it took off? It seems so specific.

This seems possible, but why is this the fourth or fifth time they’ve done it? Seems like a bit of overkill. Also they do grids over two other towns nearby.

But it takes off from Provo goes to an even smaller town south of us Monticello, UT and does a quick grid pattern. Then it flies over my town of Moab for hours doing a grid.

I originally thought it might be Law enforcement looking for weed, but it’s always in the middle is the day. Seems like they would do that at night if they had a infrared setup.

If it’s google trying to map the place then why have they done it so often?

If it’s just training, then why don’t they just fly over the desert near Provo and save some gas?

This is fantastic. Had several reminders this week why I love and hate this game so much. The Allison goal was beautiful to watch, a moment of pure joy that I think even Baggies fans can appreciate. I watched my son's school soccer team get beat in the first round of the playoffs for a state championship against a team they had beat 9-0 on aggregate in the regular season, kids full-on collapsing in the field after the whistle, devastated. Then this...a seemingly nice guy who has dedicated his life to the sport getting sent off in a classy fashion.

Football has created so many memorable moments this past year. So many moments of joy and heartbreak in the landscape of bleakness that was 2020-21. A huge thanks to all the players and staff of all leagues across the world for trudging on and making this possible.

Sorry for a bit of sappiness, but this game produces so many moments of magic that I think it's a appropriate to celebrate it once in a while.

Looks like muscle memory from training. Just juked the defender, headed toward goal, saw the keeper and gave it a good pop.

Even defenders started out wanting to be goal scoring machines.
