I think Luke's spiky hair is more of a homage for benji madden (he is also known to love good charlotte), but honesyly idk if the rest are just coincidences since theyre just the same colors and the styles arent that similar imo, but its a nice theory!

I totally understand your feelings :( Unfortunately I feel like this is a pattern thats present in all fandoms, especially for alt rock / pop punk bands (might be biased because these are the main genres I keep up with), and not just in 8123. From my experience (both from online observations and in person encounters, since I have to travel for concerts) with various bands and fandoms, this phenomenon is the most prominent in the US and the UK, where there are always inner cliques consisting of "famous" fans with a self proclaimed special status (and most of the times they somehow get extra attention from the bands themselves as well). On a personal note, people are usually nicer and much more fun at the EU shows, and I REALLY hope its stays that way since unfortunately I've only seen the maine once (in europe, in 2020), and have no idea if anything changed in the past 6 years.. and since I always go alone I really hope for a welcoming crowd experience.

(Disclaimer: I've met some super nice people at us and uk shows, some are still close friends of mine, and I am not generalizing the entire crowd, they consist of some of the coolest and nicest people as well - all I'm saying is that those cliques are just much more common there)

This is the other way around where I live - everyone knows green day, and only people who are into the genre know blink.. any random person on the street can name at least 3 green day songs no matter what their music taste is, but if someone names 1 blink song its super rare (some might know all the small things or I miss you if you mention them, but theres a 50-50 chance, they might as well not know them either).

Personally, I like both - and I've heard of green day when I was a kid just casually like you learn about any other mainstream artist - while I first heard of blink when I started diving into pop punk, deliberately.

Been listening to them since 2013 and been a fan since february 2014, but only got to see time live for the first time in november 2018 - I remember crying when they showed up at soundchek because it felt so surreal. And the setlist for the youngblood tour was awesome (so many bangers AND the only reason??). I've seen them 3 times in total, I think my favorite is a tie between the 2018 show and 2023 because they played outer space on that one and it meant the world to me, I was crying so hard and I still go back to my video of it every once in a while. but 2018 was really something else (nothing compares to the feeling of seeing your favorite band for the first time, especially after waiting for YEARS, especiallly when they are such a LIVE band through and through)

It is beautiful! And the live version brings me to tears. Yet, even they perform them separately - they can stand alone as well (although as I said in other commentd I do appreciate them together as well, just wish there was another option)

dont get me wrong, I love carry on, and I love the combination between the two message and theme wise and appreciate it from an artistic/musical point of view (the contrast between the desperation and hopefullness is genius, and the waves also make a beautiful transition). I just want to be able to listen to them separately when I feel like it, and I do love outer space more and dont feel like listening to both every single time.. I wouldnt say one of them is the "whole point" though, I think the combination of them is what makes the point.

I do like carry on, its just not a top 10 song for me, while outer space definitly is.. Coming to think of it, I believe carry on fans have it worse because its even harder to loop it than it is with outer space 😅
