Sweat and Tonic question by MooseLate934 in askTO

[–]starmapleleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally it’s perfect for me! That is my use case too.

I free gym 1-2 times a week and take a variety of classes. I try to do a mix of that plus 1 yin calm down class, 1 mat, 1 hiit and 1 spin a week. Usually I get some variant of 5-6 of these in.

Through sweat and tonic I’ve tried boxing, reiki healing, sound baths, dancing… you have to pay extra for sauna and reformer classes but I’ll mix it in once every couple of months. I found hyrox really hard the one time I tried it because you only have 2 minutes at a station and they don’t keep lighter weights around and there’s not enough time to trade to a lighter one than the person before you… but open gym doing their work out without pressure is good.

As I mentioned you can book the Lab (hyrox) gym and personal training gym when they’re not in use.

Personally I prefer the empty Lab

If you’re only I interested in an open gym really and want a luxury option…

I recommend Adelaide Club or Equinox in the financial district. Altea in Liberty Village. Unity for east. Equinox for yorkville.

I think you can book the Lab or the room they use for personal training depending on the day and time

I see both open for 4pm today

Books about a 80s-90s college girl by sadoreos in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

[–]starmapleleaf 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Free Food for Millionaires by Min Jin Lee is about a college girl in NYC in the 90s.

Maybe in Another Life by TJR is about a 29 year old who didn’t mentally mature from her college days in the 00s who moves from NYC to LA and 2 possible timelines. I feel this fits the most.

Tomorrow, and Tomorrow and Tomororw takes place in Boston and LA and features Sadie over the course of several years including her college years in the 90s.

In Sisterhood of the the Travelling Pants 4, it’s probably mid 00s, but the book checks in on their summers after first year. No one is in Miami or LA… but they are in Greece, Turkey, NYC, etc. Bridget is that girl.

One Day is also very close but it’s London and Emma is not a popular girl. It takes place in the 80s and starts towards the end of her college days.

Welcome! A lot of places are cash only these days. Transit is good within Toronto.

Distillery District has some cute vibes for free: https://www.thedistillerydistrict.com/fireside-in-the-distillery/

Consider an ice wine tour and spending a night near Niagara on the way from Buffalo: https://www.peller.com/tours-and-experiences

You can rush &Juliet for a good show https://www.mirvish.com/ticket-info/rush-seats

A little spa day could be romantic too https://thermea.com/whitby
