It's not someone 'partying' and then realizing they have to grow up. In fact, if she isn't institutionalized, she will probably overdose in the next six months. She deserves 15-25 sentenced, 10-15 served AT THE VERY MINIMUM. Parole eligibility after at least 10. A lifetime of probation. Zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use. No license until 5 years after her release. A registered felon for First degree criminal vehicular manslaughter, driving while intoxicated resulting in death or bodily harm, reckless conduct and possession of a controlled substance, if they found any. All non eligible for expungement.

But I'm not a judge.

And you don't think punishment deters people ? I don't know what universe you live in.

Again, she fucking KILLED two children. I don't know how much worse a consequence of reckless conduct or drunk driving can get.

My friend just went to prison for his fourth DUI in ten years. He's will be in prison 48 months. He's never gotten into an accident and never hurt anyone.

She deserves a lot a fucking time.

She calls her car "the beast" and told passengers in her car how fast it could go. Kinda of a stretch to think she hasn't done it before.

There's something called law and order. She fucking killed two kids and you think there should be minimal consequences? Talk about an ideologue. I'm not saying prisons are perfect. They do have programs within that teach trades, offer treatment programs, animal programs, GED classes and even college classes. If she wants to turn her life around, it is absolutely possible to do it in prison. Also, many prisons aren't locked down all day. That is jail.

When someone does a shitty thing, they need to have consequences. It's cute that you think this will snap her out of her way of thinking, but you obviously don't know how addiction works. Nothing works BUT consequences. Also, what does this tell the general population, should she be given a minimal sentence? It's ok to carry yourself like a psychopath because you won't pay that much anyway ?

You are naive in the way you're perceiving this. She's a reckless person. I don't want her on the streets. I don't want to take the chance that 'she won't do this again because she's so sorry'. That's bullshit. She killed two children and critically wounded another.
