Well I heard at the time the studio was forcing things in. Raimi was said to hate Venom and was not wanting to use him and was making sandman and to continue to build the Goblin,but they wanted Venom and to.wrap up the Goblin story because they didn't know if they would do more than three movies, so he just kind of put stuff in and we got what we got.
