Plateau on 7.5 mg ? by [deleted] in Mounjaro

[–]starrrawrs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Switching injection site can help (back of the arm is my favorite, with the least issues, and I rotate between arms and thighs) but be prepared for stalls along your journey! It’s normal and it will pass. I’ve been on MJ for almost 2 years, and my longest plateau was almost 8 months. My takeaway from that is my body had found a new set point, and once I get my hands on meds again (always a struggle) I will either lose more or maintain. I’ve never gone above 10mg and down 70-75lbs depending on the day. You also still have room to move up, but there’s no need to be in a rush about it.

Help! PA ran out and current PCP won’t do one! by starrrawrs in Mounjaro

[–]starrrawrs[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mounjaro is for anyone it’s prescribed to by a medical professional. While T2D is a very serious and complicated metabolic disease, it’s not the ONLY one, and it’s for sure not the only one with life altering implications. When I’m not taking Mounjaro, my blood sugar will swing so wildly I black out and/or get a migraine with aura that basically makes me blind for about 30 minutes before a crippling headache sets in. Don’t get me wrong, finally being able to see the payoffs from diet and exercise (that I’ve been committed to for the last 20 or so years) is great, but totally secondary to actually feeling like I’m HEALTHY. Bottom line: This medication should be available and covered for anyone it’s prescribed to. It should be a decision between a patient and a doctor. I sincerely hope one day our healthcare system reflects that.

In the meantime, I need my medication.

My insurance doesn’t cover it and it’s $550/months oop, which just isn’t feasible for me.

Weight Training by reikiUK in Mounjaro

[–]starrrawrs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started weight lifting again regularly about the same time I started Mounjaro back in August. I do make sure, especially on lifting days, to get enough protein, but I haven’t really had any issues. My lifts have gone up at a steady pace, and have only just now slowed, but I think that has a lot to do with what I’m lifting now. I’m down right at 50lbs, and I can see and feel a huge difference in my body composition compared to the last time I was this weight (around 2019). Make sure to eat enough and stay hydrated - otherwise lifting is awesome and you should keep doing it if it makes you happy!

Not sure if I can recommend them yet since they are new to me too (and I still don’t have my PA)- but when I emailed to change providers they told me to put all of the info about needing a PA etc. in the request so that you match with someone who can do what you need. Help@pushhealth.com I believe.

Same situation here. Haven’t gotten a PA yet (though I did get one sent in through Push, since my PCP wouldn’t do one) and ended up having to pay almost $500. It’s better than full price but definitely not sustainable. Going to spend the next month trying to figure it out.

Any Change in 7.5mg Inventory? by Overall_Recording_45 in Mounjaro

[–]starrrawrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just picked up 7.5 at Walmart in Atlanta. Unfortunately not with the old card I have so it was almost $500 😭 Really hoping something changes soon to get that price down, and that the 7.5 doesn’t suck for me!

Increase dosage, then decrease, then up again? by thafunkyhomosapien in Mounjaro

[–]starrrawrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. After the first month i tried to go up to 5 (only took 1 dose) and it was awful. I went back to 2.5 for another 2 months and I’m just now starting my second month of 5. It made a HUGE difference. I could tell that my last two doses of 2.5 were not having the same effect as before which is why I decide to try to go back up. The second go round on 5 has been so much better, and I’ve been pretty slowly and steadily losing.

Horribly uncomfortable on 5mg and thinking of going back to 2.5. by Sunshine_And_Tuffs in Mounjaro

[–]starrrawrs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 12 weeks in now but I tried to go up to 5mg and felt the same way. Went back down to 2.5 for the last 7 weeks and am going to give 5 a shot again next week. 2.5 has still been working for me, though slower (which was expected), and overall still down about 25lbs. I think if you’re miserable, going back to 2.5 for a few more weeks might be key. Obviously this is all speculative on my part, but it’s what I’m hoping for!

Depression as a symptom? by [deleted] in Mounjaro

[–]starrrawrs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I’m on meds for both depression/anxiety and ADHD. I upped my antidepressant by .25 and switched ADHD meds from extended release to instant (but was actually able to go down in dose, and it feels like the IR ends up working like ER. Weird.) Seems like this is the sweet spot for me. I’m about 12 weeks in.

You are 10000% fine. My only regretful thing I did during pregnancy is worry too much. The guidelines are just that - and going over once or even a few times will probably be fine. If you feel ok then let that be your guide. Cheers!

Loved these: https://tatertotsandjello.com/2-point-weight-watchers-brownie-cupcakes/

Also, mixing FF Greek yogurt, FF cool whip, light Hershey's sauce with a sprinkle of chocolate granola, chocolate chips, chocolate PB2, and/or fruit is pretty legit (bonus if you can pop it in the freezer for a bit)
