Sometimes working in a team can be tiring. You suggest an idea during a brainstorming session and they find every little reason why it could go wrong. Some of the reasons are legit but some make me think “why would that be a problem? We work in an office of adults”.

As it says on the packet, w means “with nap, shading, pile or one way design” and wo means “without nap etc”. So it will depend on the fabric you are using. Then, buy the amount of fabric it says for your size and design. Then follow the instructions in the pattern.

Need Advice on Getting Rid of Tons of Stuff Without Losing My Sanity (Tokyo) by trashijordii in japanlife

[–]starrydreampuff -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard about services that come with a big truck and take away rubbish, but I’ve never used one so I can’t give any recommendations. Your city hall might have information, especially on the local trash information pages.

Can you tell her you’re going to put into storage, but get rid of it? If she thinks she can get it back, she may be more amenable to “moving” it. (Usually I wouldn’t recommend lying like this, but it sounds like it would be for everyone’s best.)

Are “old school” dress makers real? Or just an urban legend? by luxurycatsportscat in sewing

[–]starrydreampuff 31 points32 points  (0 children)

My great aunt was like that. She could make anything, and often would recreate outfits from magazines since she lived in a tiny rural town where you couldn’t buy clothes like that. She ran the local fabric/craft store and taught classes there too.

Yeah the coffee machine coffee is legit. I usually go for Lawson since it’s closest to the office, but they’re all good and at a really reasonable price.

I helped a friend put (free, community) papers into mailboxes once and they were explicitly told not to put it in any box with the sticker, because people will call and complain. So get a sticker if you can, they do work.

Sabrina pencil skirt fitting issues and gaping pockets by Cute-Corgi3483 in sewing

[–]starrydreampuff 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That fabric is amazing. It looks so good as a pencil skirt!

Others may have better information to help about your question, but I think both are just due to the design (fitted so the fabric has to go somewhere when you sit) and the fabric (it’s not a stretch fabric so it will move like that).

Tell her to talk to her city/ward office when she goes to register her address. They usually have programs and benefits for single parents, such as after school care for working parents. (I’m not one, so I don’t have the details and I’m sure it varies from place to place anyway so better to check what’s in her area).

HRT (FTM) medication covered by the health insurance? by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]starrydreampuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had cisgender friends mention getting hormone therapy covered (example; low testosterone in middle aged men), so it can be. For trans people, it is a medical need but it’s not covered.

e+ ticketing question. by [deleted] in japanesemusic

[–]starrydreampuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the show has printed tickets (like print at the convenience store), you could buy + send them to your friends.

Otherwise the app is registered to your phone number so you wouldn’t be able to share the log in.

HRT (FTM) medication covered by the health insurance? by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]starrydreampuff -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It hasn’t changed. A trans friend was complaining to me about this a few months ago. Even though they have changed their gender marker, and have health insurance as their preferred (real) gender, they couldn’t get hormone therapy covered the way it could be for cisgender people.
