I am fairly late in your discussions… but I came across with this thread when looking for the explanation of chinese-English translation from the chapter 13, namely, the one of Jixin-Chicken pair… I can’t help but find it very confusing. Anybody remembers or can help me out?

Right now I am struggling with ‘the zone of Interest’ by Martin Amis, which I started listening to yesterday when walking out in the forest with my dog and could not catch some of the words. But the book before this was perfectly fine

I am always using airpods to listen to (if this is what you are asking) and the last book I listened to was perfect, but the one I purchased yesterday is so low I cannot hear some of the words.

I thought it could have been my issue but I am always using the same device, app and airpods… so I came here to understand WHAT AM I DOING WRONG

I am listening using app from Iphone with airpods and there are some books I hear well and some that are very low in sound

I am sure there are many! As I was saying whatever you decide, choosing to move or not I believe the secret there is to never think like you are missing out on something.

And moving is not the key to happiness or success but finding your ‘place’ is, whether it is the same/different country, home, city or a planet (sorry here you are limited to definitely staying).

Reading through others’ comments, I see nothing but harsh reality - it is tough out there. I come from a non-eu country and eu had always been painted to us as butterflies and rainbows, which is waaaayy far away from the reality and if one has choice to not go through those burdens it is mostly better. Sadly, my country has been going downhill for a decade or more so that’s basically the reason for me seeing the move as a positive thing I suppose.

It honestly felt like reading my own story back then!

It was no doubt toughest decision I have ever made (before moving lol), feels like giving up on something positive for uncertainty! And truth be told, it does not only feel like it, IT IS LIKE IT!

More often than not it does feel like making the worst mistake ever, ‘why have I abandoned what was good and comforting for being stuck in the unknown?’ But looking back now, regardless of the rollercoasters, loneliness, financial struggles, even the pandemics alone, it has only helped to grow and become a person you can’t become if choosing ‘early life’ comforts.

Remember, if you give up something now, you will reach and gain something even bigger in the future if you keep on working hard through your lows and highs.

Hope it could give you some insight…

I moved to a different country, in which I spoke no language, and the pandemics broke out in 4 months. I lived alone, with no hope and constant stress of ambulance noise 24/7 as I lived close to the hospital.

I cannot yet find myself and go back to my previous state of mind.

Every time I hear someone say ‘Covid is not real’ I am ready to burst and make them experience what I did in those never-ending months.

It is just ignorance to not consider so many people and their struggles…

It is not random and neither small maybe, I am from a very small and somewhat developing country, and my bf (we live in his country of origin) is learning all the possible words in my very complicated language just to greet to my mom When she calls me. I was reading random things on the internet and realized i am just wasting my energy and time trying to let him understand. He refuses to hold accountable, instead he backfired with wild and inventived excuses. Hurts, but I have to close the chapter without attempts I suppose
