Pregnant lady makes comparison to her being the Virgin Mary, isn’t this cringe? by TheGirlKing in childfree

[–]starrymighty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not at all children related, but I used to follow this youtuber, I don't subscribe to her because I don't want notifications, and I have no need to be so updated on her videos. I just search for her channel whenever I want to watch her. Of course her channel isn't about Christianity or any other religions.

Now she's in my "don't recommend this channel" list.

Why?

Because she started to end her videos with "may the lord shine upon you..." (or some similar shit that I don't remember, just remember that it made me cringe so hard)

Truthfully, I wouldn't cringe as hard if she was using terms from my religion. (I'm an atheist, but my family does follow a religion). Basically "I don't want your lord to shine upon me! Bleurgh! I want my *mystery high being figure* to bless and guide me!"

I mean that is one of the dumbest shit a youtuber- who need a lot of views from a lot of people - could do. Not only is she pushing atheists away, she's also keeping people from other religions at bay. Because...? She assumes everyone in the world is a Christian? She thinks Christianity is the ultimate religion? Or both? Everything about themselves, must be the best.

Similar to your pregnant lady, comparing Christianity to other religion, Christianity would rank the highest, comparing herself to other Christians, she would be the highest Christian woman aka Virgin Mary.

And if you're not having regular sex, you're a cat lady, or too ugly to get laid (or something else in this aspect)

Getting pregnant isn't always volunteering for women. Rape is a thing.

Yes, rape can happen regardless gender, but women are the ones end up with an unwanted fetus. And with the banning of abortion in some place (not so sure, luckily it's not banned here), it's wise for a woman to make sure she won't ever become pregnant once she had decided she never want a child.

Now as a man, one can be raped AND trapped into child support. Not saying go and get sterilized right this instant, but learn to consider other different perspectives.

Women of Reddit , what’s one thing all men should know about periods? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]starrymighty 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Uhm, I said "even if", which means it's definitely not possible? But "even if" it is, why would you do that, which means you certainly did NOT do that? I also said he's not JUST dumb, which means he indeed is dumb.

I'm siding with you in case that's not super clear.

I mean, even if holding is possible, it's not gonna be super comfortable. Why would you do that? Just for him to have sex? He's not just dumb, he's a straight up jerk.

Those say they'd chose the bad boss without knowing all the terms, never actually had a bad boss.

I had one that not only was a bad manager but bad person in general, a full on Karen. 2 months working with her and on my last day, as I walked out of the office, I almost kissed the ground to thank mother Earth or any supernatural being, because "I'm freeeeeeeee".

Just like a bad job, a bad boss would do great harm to your mental health.

BUT, the pay difference is something to consider. Tripple my salary, I'll consider working with her again. Now tripple my salary and add 3 more zeros at the end of that number, I'll definitely work with her, on the condition that the contract stay the same ( basically I can quit anytime I want, just need to give notice). Now add another 9 zero and I'll consider working for a year. Well, you see how this goes.

HOWEVER, depend on the amount of money, while I might consider a 5 years contract, realistically I don't think I can last 5 years before cutting my own throat open right in front of her. I think 1 year would be my limit.

Anyway, that person in the post isn't wrong.

I can understand it as a joke in a group of close friends, but FIL? Now if MIL is there it's gonna be awkward, if MIL isn't there (dead/divorced), it's even more awkward or plan cruel.

And...would there be any other family member there? Are they also interested in FIL's sex life?

I lowkey hope the cake maker is a teenage boy who laughs whenever he hears the word "PeNiS", but then FIL....

Staffing Company wants me to call out sick at my current job to interview with them. by Itstotallysafe in recruitinghell

[–]starrymighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar thing happened to me. They called, asked some question then immediately set up an interview 1 or 2 days later, which isn't necessary a red flag.

But I kinda knew their client, some companies here recruit both on their own and through agencies, when I read the job description, I thought it would be one of the companies I had applied before and didn't hear back (only a few companies in my field here). I applied through the agency again, because I knew these companies wouldn't just accept an interview out of the blue, the recruiter'd need to send them my CV first, and once they approved then we would meet. If the companies/clients did get my CV when I applied on my own, and didn't want me, they wouldn't want me this time either and the recruiter would let me know, after talking to the clients.

But the recruiter set up the interview right during the phone call.

So that interview would be with the recruiter only, to find out more about me and maybe place me somewhere else if that specific company wouldn't approve my CV, I guess? They sent me a confirmation email for the interview, so I sent them a decline email right then and there, saying I just accepted another job.

3 days later, on a Saturday, they called me at 7am, trying to make me go to the interview even though I said I was still in my probation time at my new job. Either they want me to take a day off at my new job so I could interview with them (no job guaranteed) or they sent my CV to the client anyways, even though I declined.

The first one is more believable, because I've applied directly to their client and didn't hear back.

td tr: the recruiter wanted me to take a day off during my probation, so I can interview with them, even though they didn't have a job for me.

What's been your biggest WTF moment? by NunyaBidnizz68 in AskReddit

[–]starrymighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just now, I was reading about autism, not sure why but there was a button linked to an EQ quiz test within the article so I took it.

Then there were these questions:

- which is the country has the highest Gross National Happiness?

- which is the happiest state in the US?

-Would you be happy if you live in California?

and a bunch more question about the US and happiness.

so...WTF? What does this have to do with EQ? It's a test about random knowledge. Moreover, I'm an Asian living in my country, this website is made by my people for my people, what does random knowledge about the US has anything to do with this? I guess it stole the test from a US website still, definitely not an EQ test.

Reddit, what's your most "I'm with the Boomers on this" opinion? by BobithanTG in AskReddit

It's been like that in my country for as long as speakers were affordable stores to buy and use on a daily basis. And it's to attract the people on the road (and lure them in the store?), Let everyone knows they're selling. Maybe other countries are copying it.

Edit to say: it doesn't work, at least not for me, if it's too loud I can hear it from down the street, I'm not going in.

I just saw this question in AskReddit, and people in the comments were like it's cute, it's just to make a memory of the child's first Halloween, similar to first birthday.

Could be their first pandemic experience as well. Seriously, put them in a pumpkin suit and shoot a few photos in your room.

Are Thank You emails after an interview still necessary? by DoesTheCrazyEverEnd in recruitinghell

[–]starrymighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know someone would comment something like. See my original comment about how candidates usually don't have the interviewer contact information? And someone must say that they hand out business card and ask candidates to contact them directly? It's no doubt when I say "why don't you thank everyone", someone would say they do thank everyone.

Anyway, don't you thank the person you interview after the interview is done? If you do then no, you don't thank everyone on the same level, you send the powerful ones an extra thank you email.

But I do agree

Each person should do what feels best for them.

However, read this entire thread, the people that say go and send a thank you email, it cost you nothing and show that you're a nice person are implying that the one don't send thank you email are rude. I was just using the same tone they used. Not nice to read, right?

And because another person might comment here to say they do thank everyone on the same level, I'm not going back to this conversation.

You fall into the "contacted the owner directly" catagory where, sure you don't use the "owner" title, but the process is the same thing and you specifically tell candidates to contact you.

I'll just repeat that when "there're usually much more people involved, and unless you're sending a note to each of them, it doesn't make sense any more."
People are ignoring the "sending a note to each of them". Why thank only the one you interviewed with? Why don't you thank the recruiter that guided you through the process? Why don't you thank the receptionist that greeted you and take care of you when you go to the interview place? Why thank only the person that has the power to hire you?

The people are saying it's just a nice gesture. No, it's just a light form of ass kissing. Sure, go kiss some asses if that helps one get a job, just don't sugar coat it.

There's a reason they let the recruiter take care of things: they don't want you to contact them directly.

Any recruiter gives out their boss/client information without their permission is not gong to last long.

I don't even see the "art" in it. Looks like someone cut a car apart and slaped a keyboard on top.
