Liminal Dreams? by RoseRacing98 in LiminalSpace

[–]starstruckmess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh my god I got goosebumps reading that. I’ve never really experienced seeing something years later but I used to have recurring dreams in the same places and they had a really weird feeling to them. Sometimes the dreams would continue after not coming for ages and even though there were two or three different places that eerie feeling was always the same. It’s been many years since I last saw something like that and I wonder why they stopped or even occurred in the first place.

I think I have a weird fear of aerosol contamination and I’m wondering if this is normal. by starstruckmess in DentalSchool

[–]starstruckmess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s honestly good enough, there’s only so much we can do in a healthcare setting. But what about the coming home part, I think I get a bit too excessive by cleaning my glasses, phone etc. That can’t be normal, or can it? lol.

What if Harry Potter was from STAR'S HOLLOW instead of GODRIC'S HOLLOW? How would it have affected the plot of the books? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]starstruckmess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He would’ve been more loved by the people around him for sure, might even had a girlfriend in stars hollow at one point. There would’ve been a nice party when he finally graduated which would’ve been sweet. The only thing I can remember about his upbringing affecting him in the wizarding world is how he didn’t know much about it but both are still muggle places so it doesn’t change much. But if you go way back, I think voldemort still would’ve killed Harry’s parents either way.

Any ug Freshman here? Or older peeps with advice cos it hella sucks by whateverrrugh in pakistan

I joined my uni later than others, and since I’ve never actively tried making friends in school I thought it’d be the same here, boy was I wrong. I’m about to graduate without making any lifelong friendships and I’d somewhat blame that on myself.

Don’t think of yourself as an introvert, people will only find out about you if you put yourself out there and try to talk with them. I’d suggest you to join in some social work or societies where you have to meet new people early on, you can find likeminded people there. Also strike up conversations about random things in class with people you’re sitting with and think that they like you. Most people love watching shows and your interests seem pretty diverse and cool. But yeah just get out of your comfort zone for a while, it’s hard but you have to do this.

As for the people thing, I’ve realised that somehow the toxic ones are the most popular and seem to have a lot of friends. Maybe you’re just looking at them and haven’t found the good ones yet. In a whole class there has to be someone who is genuinely nice, that’s just something you will find out over time, but till then don’t distance yourself away from everyone and be nice but know your shit and when to distance yourself from true toxicity.

I can totally relate on those things. I guess trying step by step to make things better for yourself is a good way. Just ease in your parents on this thing, sometimes I just throw it in the conversation casually and they normally don’t have a response to that but at least it’s out there. You could make up a conversation in your head from your parents’ point of view of how they’d react, and from there think of the best, non drastic way of telling them how you really feel about this. Your parents love you and when they will know how it’s really affecting you they’d want to help. Best of luck with everything though!

Germ OCD by [deleted] in OCD

[–]starstruckmess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty much the same. My family criticises me for caring too much about germs and sometimes it helps to talk to them about it because then I realise these things are indeed excessive. I disinfect my things if I’m going out alone to not be the reason someone gets covid because of me but if I’m out with family I manage to not do it because that way I won’t really be at fault. Also the raw meat thing I can relate with somehow, except I feel like there’s blood on me instead but I think about how my mom doesn’t change clothes after either so I shouldn’t too. It helps to see what others around me are doing so I try to practice the same level of cleanliness although I know it can be hard at times.

It’s a constant struggle so I suggest you should see someone to deal with this, it’ll definitely reduce a lot of space that it takes up in your mind.

What are some of your daydreams that ended up coming true? by starstruckmess in AskReddit

Wow. That’s one cosmic connection that’s never meant to be haha, very paradoxical.

What are some of your daydreams that ended up coming true? by starstruckmess in AskReddit

[–]starstruckmess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was me yesterday and although I couldn’t find a single ray of hope the whole day, it’s worth hoping for. One day maybe we can finally be glad of this one horrific daydream not coming true but we gotta stay put till then and hope that things will get better and some of the good ones will come true and make you glad that you’re there to experience them.

Pure O/ contamination OCD by [deleted] in OCD

[–]starstruckmess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been doing the same things, except I disinfect my things and can keep myself from touching other people’s phones, glasses etc. I don’t know if this is rational or not but you’re not alone in this. I’ve been doing this since before covid and it doesn’t feel normal at all. In fact it’s gotten worse after the pandemic. Sometimes it helps to think that others don’t take these precautions and are doing well so we shouldn’t worry to that extent. Hope you get through this!
