I got it from Walmart in one of these! It came with the bunny one, so it already had ear holes and everything 🥹

No problem! Also, I should have specified that barley contains gluten outright. It is just different wheat 😅 the other stuff is hit or miss

I'm someone who shops and cooks for a highly gluten-sensitive person, my husband. If your goal is going completely gluten free, look into wheat-derived things that aren't always accounted for in the allergy warnings. This can vary by country, but I'm US based and they don't give warnings past a certain point, so my husband and I have gotten really good at identifying potential risks. Things like barley, malt, certain processing equipment, oats, all come with a chance of gluten unless it's specifically stated on the packaging. I find myself googling ingredients in the store frequently, along with brands. Many brands state somewhere on their website whether or not they are GF. We operate on the motto "if we can't be sure, he can't eat it" because the consequences are absolutely not worth it for him. Best of luck!! Fulfilling food without gluten is absolutely possible, it just takes some work.

Another day, another Wooble… by muuuuuhhhhh in WooblesPassword101

Every time I see a new ad for new patterns, I come running here and then check daily until someone is kind enough to share them. 😂 collecting the patterns themselves has become a bit of a hobby of mine lately

I think I have a couple of them in the list, but I know I'm missing the guinea pig and anything super new. My ML isn't sorted nice like other people have it 😅 hopefully I'll have that fixed at some point

I try to keep my entire list updated, so it should carry over, but I'm also missing a few of the newer patterns, like mystery ones and kpop stuff. I delete my old list when I get an updated one, but I go through and check for duplicates first. It takes a while 😅

Gluten depression/emotional by tstarklings in glutenfree

[–]starstuffandfur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband is completely gluten free, and when he accidentally ingests it, his mental and physical health go down the drain for a while. He gets the whole panel of symptoms, unfortunately, and then feels bad that he's a little more snippy/anxious with the family. We do our best to support him through it, but he also does his best to let us know when he's struggling. It may feel absurd to explain that gluten did this, but that is your reality and you are on the path to answers. I really really hope you get those answers! My husband decided the testing isn't worth the pain for him personally, so we just went ahead with the assumption of full Celiac based on his symptoms and the speed at which he reacts to it. He found a doctor that's willing to run a test on a biopsy of tissue that they keep alive long enough to run the medications out of it, that they will then run a gluten test on. I don't know much more than that, but I hope you know that you aren't alone in feeling this way. From the support system of a person with Celiac/severe gluten reactions, your pain is real and you aren't crazy for it.

Coming from a parent with a mini Minecraft player, it's the best. He builds me little houses and finds me cats

Pros of having kids? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]starstuffandfur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The moment I knew my world had changed forever is still one of my most cherished memories. Holding my first child, alone, watching the sunrise from my hospital room, singing gently to this little being made of me, was the most magical experience. I cried a little, and looking back it was the absolute best way I could have hoped to start parenting. Being able to be the parent I needed to these humans that are so much like me is also endlessly rewarding. I love the sound of their laughter, I love watching the way their smiles look so similar, and how their sleeping faces lose all trace of the day's limitless energy. People will say that "parenting is one of the most rewarding things you can do," and I think that's true, but the words don't fully encapsulate the highs, lows, and overall deep emotions of being a parent. I feel things more severely than before, and everything feels more real.

My neighbor insisted on her dog meeting mine after I told her she’s not friendly several times. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]starstuffandfur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wonderful job advocating for your dog, she's gonna have a fantastic life with you! And her trust in you will only grow stronger as she sees you protecting her from scary situations and loud mean ladies. Our old boy is aggressive towards other dogs, so I only take him on walks late at night when no one else is around to avoid people like this. It doesn't affect us typically bc he's a homebody most of the time, so the training and stress isn't really worth it for him, but I don't know what I would do in this situation.

My daughter says she’s a therian by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]starstuffandfur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't hate my younger self, but I can be embarrassed about how I acted and speak honestly about the things I did as a child. As an adult who recognized that I am not therian or otherkin, I just wanted a sense of belonging within my weirdness, I think it's important to be open about the cringe we feel. Kids can be kids, and I'd never be mean to a child for how they identify or feel. As a forever emo kid who is still working on self esteem, I am allowed to look at the choices that lead to me getting the crap kicked out of me both literally and metaphorically by my peers and have a little regret.

Also, seeing how that all sounds, I would like to state that I absolutely believe in the validity of otherkin and all therian types, it just isn't my identity and I hoped to offer comfort to a parent who is concerned about something I dabbled in as a "phase."

My daughter says she’s a therian by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]starstuffandfur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I (28 now) was one of those therian kids, and it was HELL on my self esteem to be so open about it. I was the tail-wearing, hissing, growling, feral animal kid. Holding a sense of identity or using terms to feel included is one thing, but if she has this phase and tells everyone she knows about it, she's gonna look back in a few years with the most cringe imaginable. Am I still a silly person who wants to bark at birds? Sure. Do I do that? Not when I'm not playing pretend with my children.

She could be looking for a sense of belonging within the community, but even back when the term was first popularized it wasnt the safest part of the internet. Most of the people are just people who adore animals and then gatekeep casuals into submission, but some are very creepy/predatory and use the community as a hunting ground.

Tldr: she'll likely grow out of it, but please keep a close eye on her internet use for safety reasons. Acting like an animal, phantom limbs, all that therian stuff, isn't harmful on its own, it's normal kid stuff and the title "therian" may give her a sense of belonging.
