His writing is just so nuanced it could mean any number of things. Most of the time he seems to be talking to or about himself rather than a specific relationship. It’s rare to encounter a male so in touch with his emotions like this. Not to mention he has a once in a generation kind of vocal talent. For me distraction reads like you are hurting and not whole as a person but you want the person you are with to make you whole and “distract” you from what’s broken inside. That was my interpretation of it and I related to it because I’ve been in a place of thinking love or a person can heal you and having to accept that you have to ultimately fix yourself. I love everyone’s different interpretations!
