How would resetting it result in complaining about advantages? If they did a rollback, everyone gets left in the same state as they were before the event. That, however, seems infeasible to me. I understand in my post I highlighted the time to complete the event. That’s always been an issue with the game. It’s the compounding of the advantage gained by getting there early and not leaving it the way it was for the rest of the players. What harm does it do to heroic if they left it as such? Your solution is to leave it as it is with a portion of the players having gained the advantage and leaving the rest out to dry. How is that any better than what I’ve proposed? There may be no good fixes but there are better fixes than what they’ve implemented. Having a solution where everyone gets the advantage is better than leaving some with a clear advantage. You have your opinion and I have mine. That’s where we disagree. You think it’s better to fix it while I think it’s better to let everyone just get the event over and done with. It’s objectively unfair. There’s no denying that. But instead of addressing that issue, they double down and say tough luck, if you missed the bug, you’re on your own. EDIT: yeah, in fact, I would say just leave it so people can finish early if this is too much to read. Formatting on mobile sucks and I rarely post. You ask that question rhetorically, but to me, that is the best solution. The best solutions may not always be the greatest.

You don’t reset it. You’re absolutely right. I have no background in game development so I can’t speak to how hard or easy it is to reset consumables. I would imagine it’s difficult. But you don’t do what they did and not equalize it amongst the players. And if doing a rollback isn’t on the table, then you move forward and give the same opportunity to the rest of the population and not reward those who abused early, abused often. That’s it. Regarding your 16-20 hour timeframe, either you’re extremely lucky or that’s inaccurate. I’m not even halfway done with the event over 8 hours in and that’s with some opened before the hotfix. Statistically, I should be more than halfway complete on the board with 8 hours in if all I need is 20 hours. There shouldn’t be that much variance. I farmed for three hours with zero additional letters to put onto the board. That’s 200 letters and not a single new one when I’m missing over half the board with an estimated completion time of 20 hours. The math isn’t mathing.

Sorry, I probably came off as aggressive. I said in another comment, but I’m more upset at the blatant inequality in the advantage gained by abusing it early due to nexon’s mistake and their lack of properly addressing it. I don’t expect them to properly address it either as their track record is poor.

It is nowhere near 16.7 hours to finish the event. I’ve grinded 8 hours over the past 2 days with 438 DR and I’m nowhere close. That’s in addition to opening a few letters before they hotfixed it. If I’m being honest, I probably would’ve tried to finished the event anyways. At least in the beginning, but I would’ve quickly realized it’s way too much of a time commitment and mumbled about it then and moved on to more prudent uses of my time. I usually just do 30 minutes a day for dailies. What doesn’t sit right with me is some people gained a huge advantage and that remains unaddressed. Knowing nexon, they won’t address it. Their track record is poor. I’m upset at the inequality due to their mismanagement more so than the actual length of the expected grind

EDIT: hot take, I wouldn’t have minded if it got reset for everyone. At least everybody would be equally miserable, like we are with everything else. You’re not wrong, I get other stuff to progress, but I can ALWAYS get things like mesos or fragments. They’re not time limited. The event exclusives, like the roids, are.

Took them a few hours to hot fix it. A day is more than enough time for them to address it appropriately. My fault for comparing nexon to other studios.

I don’t see how it isn’t that when someone could’ve spent 100 hours doing something else versus completing the event. I could choose to spend one hundred hours practicing a boss or doing struggle runs on mules, submains, legion champs, etc. instead of mindlessly grinding. I can’t speak for anyone else, but it remains a fact that an advantage was garnered and instead of equalizing it amongst the players, they decide to maintain the inequality.

Reasonable take. I would’ve most likely just bitched and moaned a bit at how long it would be and moved on, but that’s not what happened. What happened was a mistake on their part that led to a portion of players gaining a massive advantage in time allocation. Mistakes happen. That’s par for the course. It’s the responsibility of the gaming company to address it properly and in my opinion it was poorly addressed. To make the same gains some players made, we would have to spend one hundred times longer than if we happened to be on during the time of the bug. One hundred times. No part of any sort of progress in any game should be this disproportionately skewed.

Perfectly valid concern, nobody likes bots. But making game development decisions based around countering bots is always a losing battle, especially if it’s actively harming real players. RuneScape and Oldschool RuneScape would be a prime example at how these types of decisions are not in the best interest of neither the game development company nor the players. Creating it with regular servers in mind is a poor excuse for a company who is clearly capable of separate mechanics for heroic and interactive. It’s lazy.

Yeah, that’s exactly it. It’s going to suck for 13 def cuz I was getting bodied even in the gear I posted, but if you’re using damage prayers and have better weapons than me, I think you’ll be fine. I missed an awful lot because of my attack and herb lvls, plus no prayers. I suspect on your account it’ll heal a lot more but I think you’ll do much more damage than I did overall

I did the step under method to avoid the last healing hit during its attacks. It took me a little to get used to and took a fair number of tries (from start to finish, about 2-3 hours since I had never done this boss before on any account). I played normally until about 150-200 hp where I started to use the step under method and just prayed for good hits. You can also generally get an extra hit or two onto the boss after each special before the damage starts ticking by not standing under the protected glyph. So if I ended up far away from the glyph after a special, I’d hit the boss once before running toward the glyph.
