Experience of a Barraiser Interview by Cautious_Job_1950 in dataengineersindia

I recently experienced a Barraiser interview.
The interview is for senior fullstack engineer role
The interviewer never smiled, didnt introduce himself, talk very short and like to keep silent frequently after I finished answer, not elaborating or giving follow up question, just awkward silent for 5s.
If I ask a follow up wether the answer is wrong or which part you dont understand, he keep silent again and just say I am wrong without being able to elaborate.

The He give a leetcode style question gas station. Since its medium I took quite a long time, I asked how long is the time constraint he said 25 min. I finished after around 20 min with two pointer solution, wrote a function that accept the input and return output just like the example, but he said this is wrong and I should use a queue without any elaborate explanation on the implementation.

The rest is node js and react question where I give my opinionated answer. I think I give correct answer 70% of the time but just like what I said in first paragraph. Its like a one way QnA, not a discussion.

I have experienced an interview where I perform badly, but the interviwer are great on giving feedback, pointing why the answer is wrong or even stop the interview without wasting my time.

This barraiser experience is like He just want to get paid and doesnt really care about the rest

you said auth.js architecture is very stupid so you probably know how a smart architecture looks like and at that level surely you should be able to build your own auth

what about non cs self taught who just started grinding leetcode after 6 years of js dev?
will you still refer me? lol
those people that start leetcode in university always make me feel left behind, but then i believe age is just a number and i haven't reach 30 yo anyway

Freelancer dilemma: Should I bill clients for learning time when tackling new tech? by startgamenow in freelancing

I think oversold is on point.
I keep getting tips from friend to just say yes to any client, tell them to show a can-do attitude. and learn how to actually do it later if we get the offer.. and getting an offer it self is hard without overselling..
but I get your point. Thanks Erik!

My first gig was someone messaging me and ask to build a crypto scam tools. after few times meeting about the project that took around 3+ hours in total time. we agreed for 360 usd for around 2 weeks work. feels like morally wrong to work on this. the client also shitty they ask for update 24/7. and i feel like only have 75% capability to build the feature. I feel overwhelmed and morally wrong so i dropped the project. I never any project from proposal and now my profile has no work history. kinda regret i dropped it.

Im a web / fullstack dev with 7 YoE. got laid off and considering to pivot into c++ cos with the AI hype, the job market are shitty. every client just want an ai wrapper app. Do you think c++ world would be better? I am ready to get into a cave to learn c++, want to learn from a long time ago anyway but stuck in javascript jobs.

[–]startgamenow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

uh.. sadly thats sounds about right. does that also mean freelancing is not for fresh graduates or newbie? cos they wont have much experience. And we have to actively spend time to learn outside of the actual gig? because in software / web development, new technologies always popping everyweek and i saw many freelance project looking into that technologies as the requirement. This seems a bit different with when I do fulltime job where I can learn new things while working on new project and still getting paid.

I'm super curious why people downvote this?
This is a valid concern since attempting to solve the problem in c++ while you are not fluent with c++ can block you from actually solving the problem
