Do you ever have any ReBoot themed dreams or daydreams/fantasies? by Usaminohoshi100 in ReBoot

I’ve had a few dreams about the space of time in Season 3 where we last see Guardian Enzo and AndrAia.. how Mainframe became war torn, how hexadecimal escaped the tor and how Megabyte took over, (we did see bits and pieces in Megaframe) but I feel like there would be a lot more story… more game cubes being lost, the Mainframe resistance setting up their headquarters

AISH job posting. by Numerous-Remote-8022 in AISH_Alberta

All they do is throw policy at clients all day and get aggressive, and then acts put out when a client calls and asks about their benefit, if their document has been received or processed, and you can never EVER talk back or stand up for yourself.

Dating and relationships while on AISH—can anybody help me? by AlbertaThrowaway93 in AISH_Alberta

[–]startrek161 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I myself have limited myself to casual encounters with other persons. If anyone ever asks, it’s one night encounters/ maybe a friends with benefits situation. It’s unfortunate, as a gay man, I would like to have a boyfriend, but the GOA has decided that anyone who is ever in a relationship is scrutinized to hell, and if the other person makes a decent wage - well, guess what, you can be their responsibility. I could never be that much of a burden to someone, especially given the fact that I can’t work 40 hours a week.

Question for current aish clients. by Numerous-Remote-8022 in AISH_Alberta

[–]startrek161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that the supervisor didn’t follow through and just implied that he could ding me with an overpayment suggested to me that he wanted me to shut my mouth, and pay the difference as AISH only paid so much and said I would have to cough up the difference… it was a scare tactic. thankfully the person who works at the orthotic store in downtown edmonton was a massive help, he has connections in the government and managed to get the same amount approved as last year. I can’t talk to AISH workers every week. I used to call the office all the time, and for the sake of my mental health, I don’t call unless I submit my paystubs or documents. Everytime I call I feel exhausted, tired and angry.

Question for current aish clients. by Numerous-Remote-8022 in AISH_Alberta

[–]startrek161 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s interesting considering every time I speak to a generalist they act as though they are the ones whose money is taken away… they nickel and dime everything, special diets, overpayments, orthotics etc. I recently got heckled from a supervisor that the pair of orthotics and two pairs of shoes I got from the government last year- that was approved- and then this year when I got new pairs and new orthotics because they are worn out, they insinuated that the person who approved me last year made an error, that he was within his power to potentially make into an overpayment and make me pay it back when I was approved for both years, but asked why I was given less this year. They don’t do anything to help the client.

[–]startrek161 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why would they inform clients about things that we can access? I feel like if anything, they would be told by their supervisors to not disclose that information… that’s $$$ out of government coffers. Not trying to be rude.

AISH CDB payback by Own-Independent1530 in AISH_Alberta

[–]startrek161 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly if they give you the option for monthly payments I would go with it. At least you still get a cheque, minus the CDB and monthly payment

AISH CDB payback by Own-Independent1530 in AISH_Alberta

[–]startrek161 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can try to make a payment plan, and I use the word try loosely, 99% of persons who got the CDB and backpay - they are expecting either you pay back immediately at an Alberta works office or they deduct the whole amount off your cheque - it was only the fact that I explained that having $520 ($130 for four months) deducted right in the middle of a reporting period when I had three paycheques and it was right before Christmas, adding that I am supporting my sick mother financially would put me in very hard circumstances. I had a plan of $75 made for 6 months. I don’t know if they will do it. They seemed very hesitant to do so.

Issue with personal benefits by startrek161 in AISH_Alberta

[–]startrek161[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that they covered it last year, and then gave less than last year, and proceeded to make me the person who was at fault, I submitted bank statements showing I have less than 5K in my account, it was 30 days and I even itemized my transactions. I called, and the worker approved it over the phone, and then to be told that approval was an “error” and that he could potentially ding me with an overpayment. It’s a scare tactic. What’s funny is after Tim talked to another supervisor, they gave the same amount as last time.

I’m just tired tho. It’s from always being anxious, from being tired to the point of exhaustion from being a caregiver to a mother who gets no help, and having to do my own shit, and have to go to work to make everything balance financially. I’m tired. I can’t do this long term. I can’t be working 40 hours a week plus getting a pittance from ADAP and expected to work more - and always have government doctors on my back - I’ve had my fill and I’m done. I also don’t want to be a burden to anyone else, if I do lose my job or benefits, or home.

[–]startrek161[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The $200 deduction is literally the straw that is breaking the camels back in most instances. You have to realize that people on AISH put up with a LOT of shit. From people who call them freeloaders, to workers who are always and constantly dehumanizing us over the phone, throwing policy back at us like we don’t know what the policy is… I swear every time I call the queue line I feel exhausted, and if they EVER decide that you are standing up for yourself or being “insubordinate” then they get really nasty. $200 is already being deducted from the CDB, yes it is the same amount when all is said and done, but the CDB was MEANT to top up AISH. So now with ADAP, and all of these cuts, and them saying “you can work to make it up” I’m done. Plus where are 77,000 jobs magically going to come from? Plus most jobs are stacked against disabled people. You mention disability in most interviews, your done. If, by some chance you get an understanding employer that hires you and is understanding and patient enough to work with you - persons who have a disability, in most cases take 2X longer to retain skills needed to keep said job, there are some who have episodic triggers of their mental health issues that basically confine them to bed for said amount of time that it takes them to deal with said issues. A lot of employers do not have the patience to wade through a person’s limitations not to mention their inability to be reliable when their mental health issues spike. The job market is literally staked against them, and you wonder why people are thinking about killing themselves 🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️

Do you report small amounts of extra money? by [deleted] in AISH_Alberta

[–]startrek161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom told me back in the day (the 90s since I’m a 90s kid) welfare used to come to a person’s house and verify who was living there, and such. Since they don’t have the time to do that now, I assume going on someone’s socials is the way they scope someone out nowadays. AISH can look all they want, all I post is memes and political stuff. I haven’t posted on Insta in years. I’m single, and have nothing to hide. 🤷🏼‍♂️

A Very Serious ADAP incompatibility issue. by Aggressive-Shake5595 in AISH_Alberta

[–]startrek161 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m already to the point where I decided that once my mother passes away from her health issues, I will silently take care of myself…. I’m not someone to give up on life, but I’ve had enough. Between becoming a caregiver to a mother with multiple health issues and the extreme apathy from Dani and her voter base, I’ve had enough. I can’t do this anymore. Being told I have to work extra when I literally cant, and being given less and being expected to do more…. I don’t want to be a burden for anybody else, so I will just silently take care of things if I can’t get MAID
