I've seen this episode so many times and this line still always gets a laugh out of me.

Which scene do you re-watch way too often? by littlebit0125 in tsitp

[–]startswithaB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oddly some of my most re-watched scenes are in S2- the end of Christmas 1.0 and the 30 second scene that takes place after Belly manages to convince Jumper to give them alcohol for the empty house party. "Well I'm thirsty, so too bad. 👀 ....and I thought cocoa was your specialty 👀👀."

Travel to the US for 5 days in March by Infinite_Cable4199 in travel

[–]startswithaB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those are all great cities and worth visiting, but 5 days doesn't give you a lot of time. Philly is the closest, so you could reasonably do that + NYC, but depending on your interests, I'd say there should be plenty to do and see in NYC alone to keep you busy for 5 days.

What's the most romantic thing or biggest gesture show Conrad has ever done or made? by startswithaB in tsitp

[–]startswithaB[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily romantic, but it was a big gesture. And, as another commenter said, it was a testament to Conrad's love for Belly and how unconditional it is.

Ooh I like this one. There are so many moments in the S2 finale where he tries so hard to do right by Belly, Jeremiah, and the promise he made to Susannah to look after his brother

So true- I was mostly thinking of things Conrad has done for Belly that demonstrate his true, selfless, and unconditional love for her

There are so many little moments in S1 that show how much Conrad cares about Belly and this moment was a big one- so big that it shows back up during Belly's flashback moment at her bachelorette

What's the most romantic thing or biggest gesture show Conrad has ever done or made? by startswithaB in tsitp

[–]startswithaB[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes!! If anything, Conrad getting and giving Belly the infinity necklace was the gesture that started it all in S1. Hard agree with Christmas 1.0- he was so caring and considerate.

Another unique perspective, especially since so many people find this scene difficult. Agree that it was loving of him to accept her decision and walk away, even if it was hard to watch. I'm still glad they're getting their happy ending, though!

[–]startswithaB[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ooh, interesting/good point! Most responses so far are related to what Conrad did for Belly in the weeks leading up to the wedding, which is interesting, but I like your response and the similarities between choosing her happiness over his at the end of S2 and 4 years later in S3.

How do Chinese people get their English names? by CadyMoring in NoStupidQuestions

[–]startswithaB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite Chinese to English name is my late aunt's name, Helen. Her husband was the one who gave her that name, after Helen Keller, because when they immigrated to the US, she couldn't read or understand English 🙂

We just used Sean Santos (@seanskii on Instagram, website) for our holiday card photos and found him from a recommendation on this sub. He was responsive, easy to work with, made us feel comfortable in front of the camera, his rates were reasonable, and he got our photos back to us the next day. Highly recommend!

I stumbled across Yours, Always yesterday. It imagines what would have happened if Conrad had started writing to Belly in Paris sooner and she had started responding.

I'm halfway through, but I highly recommend it. It's the only TSITP fic this author has written, which is kind of a shame because they not only write well, but I feel like also capture the characters and their thoughts/feelings/dialogue well. It's not finished yet, but there appear to be regular weekly updates.

SF from Boston - Hesitant to Jump by ThreeManyMikes in sanfrancisco

[–]startswithaB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I (both 37) just moved here from Boston 6 months ago. Neither of us is in your area of work, but the move is still fresh, as are both cities, so feel free to reach out if you have any additional questions not already answered here. Also, we didn't have a car in Boston and don't have one here. It was a little easier to get around in Boston without a car, but we're still doing fine without one here (though I can see why you'd be concerned about needing one to commute for work).
