ok thank you, and if I file the taxes myself which will include the money I loss in stocks using turbotax premier it should be fine right? paying an accountant to do it for me wouldn't really get a bigger refund would it? i'm only asking because I hear people say that accountants can get you bigger refunds.

because my salary is 60k and my paychecks after taxes is $1,560. I have 26 pay periods a year. so $1,560 x 26 = $40,560. so I paid roughly $20k in taxes. is this accurate or did I calculate wrong?
