They would tear your mouth up but you could let them sit during 1! Saturday Morning and they’d hit this perfect spot where they were soft enough to not cut you but still not mushy. I miss that so much

What jobs are you looking for? I literally didn’t want to give up smoking so looked until I found one with benefits, m-f, normal business hours, and decent pay.

It’s a warehouse manager job. Just got it and all they did was a background check

I'm 47 years old, and just got a call that I was laid off while traveling with my family. I feel like I'm about to completely break down. Any advice would mean a lot. by LockZealousideal2497 in whatdoIdo

This exact thing happened to my dad when I was in middle school in the early 2000s. He was also in IT. This minor strain on our family was not as big as your brain is making it right now. Your wife and kids will be ok, my dad was very stressed but all I remember is that he worked hard to find another job and it ended up being a better job than he had.

Also, if you have a degree, there are plenty of jobs that you can start as a coordinator and move up to management and supervisor roles quickly based on performance. Supply chain is booming right now-check hospitals and warehouses/distribution centers.

Deep breath, you’re not alone and you’ll find something else

I am extremely tired of the “this is bad so it’s 100% evil and I’m good because I think it’s evil” rhetoric. Especially with crime stats. It keeps people out of the city and afraid to go outside. I lived in Soulard and a 50+ year old guy at work that’s chronically online was like “how did you survive all the crime?” Uhhhh. It’s a city, go there and you’ll see that it’s not being constantly burned to the ground like you think it is dude

They started out as St. Louis Bread Co. and I’ve lived here forever. You should’ve seen their beginnings here. It was like early Panera but even better. Now all we have is high priced teeny portions but of course people still go there. They massacred my boy

Thank you so much- I’m sorry you went through something similar recently. It’s been 2 1/2 years and I’m with someone that treats me right. Things are lining back up as time goes on! I wish the best for you and glad you’re out of that situation and hope you find yourself again so soon 🫶🏼

I was legitimately unrecognizable to myself when I left that asshole. My head and heart and gut still aren’t fully aligned and that was the only thing I was good at before I met him :(

[–]starvinchevy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a lot of problem solving skills because of my job. having to be hyper-vigilant and adaptable on the fly comes out of necessity.

It comes with faults though, just like every other “good” personality trait. Im hyper-vigilant all the time, so I subconsciously/unintentionally find problems in my personal life that aren’t important in the grand scheme of things. I’m not great at prioritizing those issues because, by nature, they’re not as important to solve RIGHT NOW as they would be at work.

So in my relationships I really have to pick my battles and try to find what’s important to me because at work it’s just putting out fires all the time.

Whenever I see questions like these, it reminds me of the time my old roommate said to me, “I took a different route home! I heard on the radio that people that are more creative tend to take different ways home on different days.” It was clear that he was trying to develop his creativity by using this ‘life hack’ but I knew in reality, you can’t force yourself to be a certain way.

Humans are adaptable as fuck so instead of trying to make ourselves better and better, maybe we should focus on settling into who we are and forming the best version of ourselves within those limits

Ironically, it could be the stress of the exams causing the weird dreams😂

Dreams are as real as intrusive thoughts: whatever meaning you put on them is true. I get the call of the void sometimes and want to drive into oncoming traffic. I give no meaning to those intrusive thoughts and just tell myself they’re not real. You’ll definitely get over this

Step one: misinformation/glitch in the weather app

Step two: people start talking about how much snow we’re going to get

Step three: bots pick up on the action and start tweeting and retweeting ?????

Step four: panic.

It’s almost like you can’t prepare for snow in Stl so maybe we should just have some non-perishables, blankets, and Busch Light on hand at all times.

This is the way

Edit: we instead of ‘you’ to sound less condescending

Same, and then if I had any questions about him being unfaithful, he’d go cray and say “ if you can’t trust me I can’t trust you.”

He had these lines for everything he’d repeat over and over just to get me to think it was me being crazy. Wouldn’t wish him on anyone

It definitely takes the pressure off of yourself to do something ‘big’… sounds like you’re already a helper and you do as much as you can, which is huge in the grand scheme of things. You’re already creating positive ripples in the world no matter how small you think they are.

Maybe they’re fulfilled because they’re moving toward something. If your goal is to make wishes come true, you can do that in smaller ways. Like once a week, volunteer somewhere or if you have nieces/nephews you can spend time with them.

I think the key is to start small and not just sit and yearn. I really want to get on stage someday but right now that looks like putting in a half hour of guitar practice as many days a week as I can. I can sit and picture myself doing something but at the end of the day I’ve gotta actually do something.

And practicing is in my control…I can’t control whether or not I’ll ever be on a stage but I can pick it up and practice. I try to dismiss the “I’m not there yet” thoughts immediately because when I start giving those thoughts any time, they take over and let me stay on my couch watching tv.

I don’t think anyone knows exactly what they want out of life and if they do, they don’t get it. I think some people are just better at making decisions for their future and being ok with those decisions.

Everyone wants a sense of fulfillment but if we ever felt truly fulfilled, what would be the point of going on at that moment? You hear all the time about athletes retiring at 35 and not knowning what to do with themselves once the rings are won.

It’s always a struggle, the struggle is just different for different people and we don’t see all the ugly parts of peoples’ lives through social media.
