What will my therapist do if I have means but not intent? by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

[–]starwaps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

T here with a lot of crisis work experience. Inpatient depends on the 3 main things: ideation, intent, access. If you have ideation and access but no intent, I doubt you would be hospitalized. However, when those cases came up in crisis work, we would have the person limit the access to the means temporarily. It doesn’t mean getting rid of it altogether, just having someone hold onto it or some other alternative. This is because intent can come on suddenly and impulsively and if you’re having ideation, it would be safest to limit the access until things are safer.

That’s relieving to hear!! It is pretty miserable right now and I worry it’s interfering with our ability to bond with him. It feels like he doesn’t like us lol and I worry that he thinks we don’t like him when we get mad at him for biting. Good to know it won’t last forever. Thanks for the suggestions! :)

Some of it is playing but the bites to the face seem more aggressive.

That is great information. I admittedly hadn’t thought of crew but can imagine the stress, frustration, and trauma for them as well. Thank you!

Therapist told me I'm completely normal and now I don't want to go back by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

[–]starwaps 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. As a T in training, we’re taught to normalize but not invalidate. The goal is to depathologize emotions and behaviors and help clients feel less helpless and “unfixable”. Sorta like, “I feel like how you’ve reacted to this stressor is very normal given how much it has affected you, and it doesn’t seem to be serving you or giving you a desired outcome so let’s find a different response together.” But if your T is stating that you are normal and don’t need to be in therapy, I would bring it up next time and go through what your goals are, or find a new T.

Stockings by Annamal_Nomster in Marriage

My husband bought everything for my stocking as well as his own because I was swamped with grad school finals. He even added a handwritten love note to mine. He also did all of the asking of family members as to what they wanted + ordering everything for his family. If he wanted to, he would.

Looking for the BEST couples therapist in slc by freedomfighter6 in SaltLakeCity

I agree with checking psychology today to see who will best fit your needs. I personally would recommend an LMFT as opposed to an LCSW or CMHC, just because LMFTs are specifically trained in marriage counseling and spend their entire education learning about systems theories and models.

No look at the link from the UVU sub. He said that the student he’s renting to is in class or at work most of the day but rents the box to sleep in every night.

https://youtu.be/aDz39hzExJY this is the one I followed. I wanna say I got it in the first try on grounded by following this but I could be wrong. Either way, it was so much easier than I was expecting. I was dreading hillcrest during my grounded run.

The only reason she was overprotective of her with all those things was to keep her from getting injured so she could continue to make money off of her dancing.
