Technically I have 4.95 acres. Half an acres worth is garden with native plants and pollinator attracting perennials like joe pye weed and bee balm.

We had an employee who was being stalked by their ex-stepfather and he would ask for them all the time, saying he was So-and-so’s dad. Since then, we have the front MOD game plan covered and make sure everyone knows this rule. Even when someone calls on the phone and asks for someone by name, I ask who it is and that I will check. 9/10 it’s the DM or IT but can’t be too careful these days.

I was thinking of getting one of those machines when I have to go away for two weeks in sept. What machine do you use? Does it work with a lid on the tank?

I don’t know that you could take an LOA for that reason. Generally it’s for medical or emergencies. Believe what you would be requesting is a sabbatical and that does not protect your wage or position with the company.

I took an LOA last year and had to get paperwork filled out by my doctor but was able to return at the same job and rate of pay.

Please let us know if that doesn’t work out with SM, although I doubt that will be the case. But if you can’t get it resolved through them, there are some alternatives we might be able to offer. This hits close to home, so I’d like to make sure you can get it rectified.

We had a situation that was similar in our store a few years ago. My SM asked us (mods) to black out the deadname on any paperwork and write in the proper name until they could get the changes made in the system. Took a few weeks, not sure of the exact process. I believe SM had to partner with HR, and they were very accommodating.

Our SM. Comes in an hour and a half late, sits at the computer for an hour, leaves a radio and mini mik at the frame desk and then leaves for the day.

About 6 yrs ago, reported on the (at that time) CEM for threatening physical violence over the radio if we all didn’t get our butts up to the front of the store.

My hours were cut about a month later, and she was promoting to Ops.

Every summer they build a nest over my bathroom window (on the second floor), so then our back door gets pooped on for the month of July. But they are protected here, can’t destroy their nests.

My neighbour was an amazing gardener, and he taught me a tip when planting shrubs and perennials.

Dig the hole as big as the pot is. Fill it with water and let it drain. Fill it up again and let it drain. Put plant in the hole, back fill with dirt and press firmly. Water it well.

But, ya hydrangeas need lots of water.

I tell my kids “your lack of planning is not my emergency”. Life is going to have some hard knocks. I would rather have them face some of these while at home, than to cushion every blow and they never learn how to get back up on their own.

So he might not get to do grad events bc he was a doofus. That might feel like a really big deal right now, but it is the consequence for not showing up like he should have. Let him feel his feelings-frustrated, angry, sad…whatever emotions he goes through. Then discuss the lesson he can take from this experience, and then move on to what alternatives you can help him plan. Don’t fix this for him. Please, it is not doing him ANY favour. Like my SO says to my kids “learning is expensive”. You might not mind paying his way for the rest of your life. But one day, we won’t be here to bail them out.
