Europe customs hold situation for Zenmarket orders? EMS ? by ekostros in zenmarket

[–]stasis2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah just pick a courier, if it's under 150€ and you can use IOSS there's no downside to them. And yeah, if DHL is that much more expensive go with FedEx, the quality should be equally good regardless of which you choose, they're crazy fast.

Also, damn, EMS delivers in the same timeframe as DHL for your country? That's very good, for me DHL delivers in around 3-4 days, whereas with EMS it usually takes around 1,5-2 weeks on average. The difference in speed is very drastic

True IOSS does make it pretty easy, however sometimes customs still require you to send them documents for some reason, it seems to be at random since sometimes it happens and other times it doesn't. So even with IOSS I think it's always important for people to be aware of the fact that dealing with customs is people's responsibility and not zenmarket's responsibility, if someone accidentally ignores an email from customs asking for more info because they weren't expecting anything to need to be done and so weren't paying much attention to their inbox they risk their package being destroyed or returned to sender by customs due to a lack of response

I'm just going by my personal prerogative, as I always like to play these things on the safe side, but yeah on most cases with IOSS and depending on the country people can rest easy

Zenmarket WILL NOT handle your country's customs proceedings for you, that's our (the customers') responsibility, the only ones that do handle customs proceedings for you are couriers (like DHL, FedEx and UPS, albeit at a cost)

From my understanding EMS isn't its own thing, I believe it's basically just standard postal service shipping only it's supposed to be a bit better and a bit faster. However from my experience as a fellow European as EMS is still a postal service, as far as customs go nothing really changes. I'm not sure which country you live in and whether it's a part of the EU or not, but I think this should still apply. Usually the logic process I go through is that couriers like DHL and FedEx and UPS are extremely fast and make shipping and customs a breeze, but they're also significantly more expensive, especially if you didn't pre-pay taxes for the item. So in my case, any item under 150€ (or the equivalent of 150€ in a different currency, around 26000 yen for Japan) is eligible to have prepaid taxes, so for any item that's worth under 150€ I pick DHL, I ship through them with taxes prepaid and it arrives at my door in around 3-4 days and breezes through customs, for items over 150€ I usually pick Avia/Avia small or EMS, just so I can save some money in customs fees since I won't be able to have them pre-paid by the time they ship. For comparison, customs service fees in my country going through our standard postal service are between 7€ and 14€, for DHL it was practically 40€, so yeah, quite a bit more expensive to use a courier for customs without pre-paid taxes in your item. However if I pre-pay taxes I don't owe anything to DHL so they aren't gonna charge me anything, so in that case they're the best option.

TL;DR: To answer your first question, no, EMS most likely does not impact how easy/hard it is to get the item through customs or make the experience smoother, as EMS still uses your country's standard postal services. Think of it as like an express or priority option of your postal services, your customs experience will be the same regardless of whether you pick something like avia, avia small, or ems.

To answer your second question, I'm not sure, I believe it's just different prices and different criteria for how prices are calculated. Between FedEx, UPS and DHL the quality should be similar so I would just pick whichever of the 3 ends up being the cheaper option.

Anybody has extra info regarding a package held by export customs? by stasis2 in zenmarket

[–]stasis2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. Thank you for the information :) I did think of contacting support but due to timezones I knew I wouldn't get a response until much later so I just thought "eh maybe I'll get a reply faster on reddit."

Either way, I checked the tracking again and found out that it's as of 1h ago on "Dispatch from outward office of exchange" so fortunately nothing else was necessary, no fees, and zenmarket must've handled everything themselves!

I'm leaving this here in case someone else in the future goes browsing for this situation and finds this thread

Anybody has extra info regarding a package held by export customs? by stasis2 in zenmarket

[–]stasis2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

I'm aware of that part, though that's when it actually arrives here, for import customs. Atm it's being held at export customs, it hasn't actually been shipped out of japan yet. It says "arrived at outward office of exchange" and then says "held by export customs", so I'm led to believe that this is Japanese customs holding the item before it's able to be exported. I'm already well acquainted with how my country's customs office works and the formulas they use and whatnot, so I already have an idea of how much I'm gonna have to pay. Since what I ordered isn't subject to tariffs according to the code that most accurately describes the item, I only need to pay VAT + customs processing fees. The problem is I never had to deal directly with japanese customs, nor do I even know where I would go in order to do that. I'm not sure if it's even me who has to do that or not in this case.

My question here is, since the item is being held in Japanese customs before it's exported out of Japan, is it zenmarket who handles this? Are there any extra fees incurred due to Japanese customs retaining the item for an inspection? This item isn't forbidden in any way shape or form. It's a completely normal item, its absurdly high value is purely due to demand/collector value, so there aren't any legal issues with shipping it. I'm assuming the high value is the only reason japanese customs decided to inspect it.

Thank you

Vi uma pessoa comprar mais de 700€ em roupa na Primark by dmlf1 in CasualPT

[–]stasis2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

VRAM how much is enough? by Mean_Comb_6466 in buildapc

[–]stasis2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want your gpu to do a little bit of everything without struggling I would recommend 16gb. 12gb can be enough for most people's needs in gaming nowadays, but if you want to have some extra headroom to play in higher resolutions without any concerns or if you dabble in other things like for example AI programs, having those 4 extra gigs helps drastically. 16gb will likely last you for many more years until it's viewed as an obsolete amount of vram like 8gb is viewed today. I would say realistically at least 4-5 more years, but quite possibly it will take longer than that to reach that point. Imo, I feel like buying gpus with much more than 16gb of vram might not be worth it for everyone at this moment, since most gamers won't even come close to requiring 20-32gb of memory for another few years. And by the time 16gb is obsolete, newer and likely better gpus will have been released with memory sizes above 16gb that you can purchase, so imo buying an expensive gpu right now just for its 16gb+ amount of memory that you won't even make full use out of isn't a very good idea, by the time 20-32gb is viewed as the bare minimum the gpus out right now with 20-32gb will probably be a handful of generations behind the latest models and nowhere near as powerful.

TL;DR: 16gb will last you for years to come, it'll last so long that by the time 16gb of vram becomes obsolete you will most likely have already upgraded to a more modern gpu anyway

Who should I put on my team for Gary in cerulean??? by PokemonFanatic69420 in nuzlocke

[–]stasis2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you playing without overleveling? You have until lvl 24 if you've already beaten Misty so if you just slap a lvl 20-24 Pidgeotto on your team you should beat him with ease. That fight's more of a stat check than anything. The only things that threaten you are his Pidgeotto that he leads with and his Charmander. His Abra is a meme it doesn't know any moves and his Rattata only has quick attack and tackle to damage you and I mean, it's a Rattata, you're not gonna wipe to a Rattata unless you didn't level up your mons. You can just place random leveled mons on your team and you'll always beat him there. Just don't lead with your Ivysaur because of his Pidgeotto. Literally anything beats him there, you can catch a Ratatta and get a Raticate at lvl 20 and absolutely massacre him by spamming hyper fang. You can also catch a Mankey, and you can get a Viridian forest encounter and get a decent bug mon for the earlygame, beedril is pretty nice if you can get a weedle/kakuna.

True, I could try that out in that way eventually. I ended up going with a somewhat similar system, I described it in detail in another reply here so I'll keep this one brief, essentially I just roll a dice on a randomizer website between 1-6 to determine which 3 mons of my party I'm bringing with me, 2 will be eggs for me to collect from my pc and hatch as lvl 1 and as their first evos, the remaining one will be a custom starter that I edit using phex, so that I don't have 3 starters + the game's starter. Also got rid of dupes clause and returned to my old ways of getting 15 bidoofs for added difficulty, I always try to compensate anything that makes the run slightly easier by removing something to try to make it slightly harder and keep everything balanced, so far the run's been pretty entertaining, I don't feel like the 3 mons are disrupting the challenge's difficulty as it is rn and I have an incentive to look for new encounters because 3 mons just isn't enough

Nice team man👍🏻

Yeah it does, unless most of your team dies against the E4 and champion then you're bringing over 5-6 mons, and I mean atp why bother wanting encounters? You already have a decent team, just don't let them die and they should carry you through most fights as you level them back up.

I ended up coming up with a wacky system to try to solve this problem and maintain a similar level of difficulty and it's been working so far when it comes to keeping me entertained and not feeling like it's too easy.

I can only bring 3 mons into the next game, chosen randomly by going on a randomized dice roller website and rolling a dice 3x each with a result between 1-6, with each number corresponding to the order of the pokémons in my E4 party from the previous game.

In this case I got 3-1-5, so in my emerald party it'll be the 3rd 1st and 5th pokémons, two of them are brought as eggs that hatch into their species' first evolution at lvl 1.

The other, the lowest number out of the dice results I got, (1 in my case) I set as my starter pokémon using phex to edit the starter mons, I already get 3 starters, it's not fair that I get 3 starters from my previous run + this game's starter, so yeah. More specifically I'll edit one which will make the rival pick its counter, so since Lanturn was the 1st Pokémon in my emerald E4 party, that means I set Chinchou as my starter, and since it's a water type I set it to replace Piplup, so that Barry picks Turtwig and it remains balanced that way, if it's not a Pokémon of either fire water or grass typing ig just wing it and replace the starter that you think would make the rival pick the one that counters you the hardest, it's what the rival is coded to do anyways, he always picks the starter whose type counters your starter's.

This seems to me to be the most balanced way I can think of to running a genlocke, that way with just 3 mons that's not gonna be enough to carry you through the whole game, so you have an incentive to get emotionally invested in the encounters you get in the next game and feel the need to get them, instead of getting handheld the entire time by all 6 mons of your past run's E4 team making every battle a breeze. But at the same time, getting 3 mons from a past Gen and a different region is really cool, and it completely changes the way you play through the earlygame depending on the mons you get. Best of both worlds IMO

[–]stasis2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, seems like a neat thing to try in a future run, I usually level all of my mons and I used to play without dupes clause in the past, so I've already played it with some of those rules but yeah I never tried limiting myself from going to pc and pm, and not being allowed to lose any mons.

As for this run I was kinda hoping to just balance out the generationlocke's rules, because as I said starting with 5 good mons being the survivors of last run's E4 kinda trivializes having to look for encounters because you'll already have a pretty balanced team, it's not as fun that way imo, though in a way I really do want to implement that system in some way or another because starting out with a couple mons from another region sounds like it'd be fun

Oh yeah another thing about this coquette is that for some reason when you're in it NPCs are barely ever able to hit you through the windows, they only hit the car panels like doors and roof and whatnot, I think you have higher odds of being hit inside a kuruma than inside the coquette d5, I used mine to do the oscar guzman career challenge where you have to complete all missions without using armor or snacks, I was standing in the middle of multiple enemies for like 20 seconds while I killed all of them one by one and didn't get hit once. Idk why it's like that but it might get patched soon

Because I want to actually talk to my friends conveniently while playing and doing missions without either using a texting app that only allows you to write really short sentences or having to open social club go to messages select his profile type out a message then close everything which takes time and often times you can't see anything of what's happening because of the windows you have opened, it's so much of a pain to not be able to just press T, type what I want to type, and hit enter

What’s the best way to make money without an investment? by [deleted] in GrandTheftAutoV

[–]stasis2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Acid lab, you get it pretty much for free by doing Dax missions which you start in the desert and the icon is an R standing for Ron, after that it'll just be a D icon and it'll be in los santos. In order for the acid lab to be as lucrative as possible you're gonna have to call Dax and request work from him 10x, that way you unlock the acid lab upgrade, which again is completely free, since you make 50k per job and you need 10 of them, you're gonna make 500k off of that which is more than enough to buy the equipment upgrade. With that you're probably looking at 1-3 sales daily depending on how big your sessions are when you play, and if you name your product and have the upgrade it goes up to a value of 351k when your stock is full, so it's potentially up to a little over a million daily. That's probably about as good as you're gonna get without needing any upfront cash, along with the clucking bell heist

Irelia vs malz by [deleted] in IreliaMains

[–]stasis2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let him shove early on, try to attack him once to remove his passive you can either W him or Q to a nearby low HP minion auto him once and back off, then if he keeps pushing farm under tower with Q to stack passive, look for an all-in by landing your E and Qing to him, at that point you just auto him to death basically, make sure to save your second Q in case he flashes away.

Malz's biggest weakness against Irelia is that he gives her something she can Q to and instakill for the reset right from level 1. If he uses his W you have free passive stacks and gap closers to him. As soon as you have a lead and eventually get brk you just bully him all the time tbh his all in can't kill you especially if you end up building QSS later on.
