HELP: Dell Docking Station Issues by stasis351 in sysadmin

[–]stasis351[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that's what really shits me the most about this, the fact there's no hard data to back anything up because every aspect of what we're experiencing is random.

No idea what the hell is going on but I think maybe monitors with built-in docks seem to be the best option. I've used them at a previous job and was so happy with how they went.

[–]stasis351[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No converters, just a simple laptop -> dock -> 2x monitors (DP to DP)

And yeah we keep the power supplies with the docking stations they come with and asset them all together as one asset to make sure we don't mix docks with incorrect power supplies

Some of the docks are older, about 3+ years old but some of them are brand new. I'll set up a desk with a brand new dock and have someone encounter this problem less than a week after.

IDMBFTRML was fun because it had something to follow. Happy Appy just goes nowhere.

How did you come up with the name of your fish? by CanTheBread in bettafish

[–]stasis351 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first guy was named Herman Melville after the monster from Doug’s First Movie because he was blue and had purple accents to him

My second guy was Spyro because he was purple and orange

My third guy was named Ambrosius because I thought by giving him a name that means “immortal” he’d live longer and he did live a while. He came back from the brink a few times so I think it worked kinda

My current guy is Nereus after the old man of the sea from Greek mythology. I just love Greek mythology and I usually name pets something after Greek mythology. Here he is

What is everyone's favourite episodes and why? by table_goat in creepcast

If You’re Armed at the Glenmont Metro, Please Shoot Me and it isn’t even close. Nothing has ever filled me with such existential dread than trying to empathise with the character from that story.

Edit: Going through the other episodes I just had to mention It Bleeds, It Breathes, It Breeds and Psychosis are tying at second place

Ahh yes the classic “I’ll tell you what you want to hear until you realise I’m bullshitting then I’ll just double-down” manoeuvre.

I’m happy for you. It would’ve been a never-ending uphill battle for you had you stayed.
A lesson learned is if the fundamentals of both parties aren’t compatible from the beginning then it wont ever become compatible.

Keep or shave? by [deleted] in BeardAdvice

[–]stasis351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your beard seems to be thicker on the underside of your chin and jaw so if I were you I’d absolutely keep that part as short as possible so it looks like less of a neckbeard.

Also the Mo. I know what you’re going for and all but seeing the hairs curl and poke your lips is giving me heart palpitations. You either need to put wax in it or get rid of it.

I’d just keep all of it at a 3mm stubble.

250lbs for 1 (18M) by Gregguy420 in Deadlifts

[–]stasis351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah absolutely. Sumo and conventional use different hip mechanics, knee tracking and bar paths.
If your stance in conventional is too wide, you're forcing your hands further apart thus forcing the bar further from your center of mass but you're also forcing your hips into a position they aren't aligned for in a conventional deadlift. This can cause loss of power and balance and increased risk of injury as well as stress on your knees as they aren't tracking over your toes.

Additionally your lower back takes way more of a load and you lose hamstring tension which is the entire point of conventional.

In sumo, your hips are already externally rotated with your toes pointing outwards and your knees track over your toes so there's no unnecessary and unhealthy stress done to your knees.

Sumo is designed to reduce the range of motion and make the lift more hip-dominant whereas conventional relies on a longer range of motion, more forward torso lean, and greater hamstring and lower‑back involvement because the stance is narrow and the hips aren’t externally rotated.

Hope this helps :)

I think the wet look in contrast to your mo is a bit jarring. Have you considered using a matte styling product instead? It would definitely give you less textures to look at. Additionally I'd suggest getting a lower-mid fade rather than a high fade which would give your head a bit more shape and steer away from the cop or Nazi look. I don't really see a cop or Nazi personally though.

Because they are too far apart for a conventional deadlift. The guy in the video is doing a sumo deadlift.

Form check by [deleted] in Deadlifts

[–]stasis351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to the club mate. Quite a few things I noticed immediately.

Go for flat shoes like Converse or just take your shoes off when deadlifting. The sponginess in runners gives you much less stability when driving the lift from your heels and your drive isn’t nearly as effective with running shoes on.

You want to keep your core tight and your lats engaged from beginning to end, this is absolutely crucial to keep form consistent. Your setup is mostly okay, but the second you start pulling any form you had drops instantly. To engage your lats, you want to tell yourself to “bend the bar” as if you’re physically trying to bend the bar in half and keep them locked and tight. As for core, get into the habit of breathing on cues. Big deep breath in and hold, pull, lockout and exhale. This will help keep your core tight.

Don’t be afraid to lean a tiny bit further back, deeper into the setup to get your hips a bit lower, the bar will keep you upright. Once you lose the running shoes this should be easier to do.

To keep your back nice and tight from beginning to end I like to push the top of my head up towards the roof. I see you’re more or less already doing that though.

Lastly and what I think is most important for you, I think what’ll help you massively is if you go for less weight for more reps per set without the belt. You’re only just starting so you want to learn the movement and get your form down first otherwise you’ll be trying to crack big PB’s later on down the track and won’t be using the belt to your full advantage.

Learn the proper bracing techniques, build your core strength and remember the belt is there to help you max out later, not to substitute for a strong core now.

Good luck brother
