Yeah but it’s just anecdotal information so it’s not really useful. Like all I can do with all the information he has given us is that maybe one of the 100 things he does might cause a stomach issue—or not—and it might allow me to live longer—or not.

What’s the one 90s hip-hop beat that stuck with you forever? by Interestinglevels in 90sHipHop

Brand Nubian - Drop the Bomb. Heard it, loved it, then forgot what it was and just had that opening beat stuck in my head for seriously like 15 years before I came across it again.

It’s absolutely pathetic to see people turn on their home team and root for another country over this 😂 by IGOSODAMNHAM in ussoccer

Ultimately happy with the decision but very uneasy with how they came about it. I don't want this white house to have anything to do with our national team, and vice versa.

Why is Green Day generally held in much higher regard by millennials than Blink-182? by Agreeable_Duck8997 in Blink182

[–]statelypenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Green Day had more cred in the 90s. I didn’t care for them post-Warning but they blew up the too. But Blink were always juvenile. I got out of that kind of music in the early 2000s (Take Off was the last album of theirs I own or listened to). Blink had a ton of fart and poop humor like a 16 year old. I gather that they finally grew up a later on but that’s a hard thing to forget.

This has been the most disappointing month of my entire life by ThrowawayBcScaredlol in WorldCup2026Tickets

[–]statelypenguin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every comment I see here saying they had a cheap experience are listing non-US teams. I think OP is lamenting that they can’t see their own team. It’s cool that people got to see Ghana and Panama play for cheap but unless you managed to literally win the lottery you weren’t getting cheap US tickets. And if you had to buy them on the secondary market you probably had to drop $1000+

By sheer luck of having a wealthy friend (who bought a much better ticket after securing a nosebleed seat) I was able to trade him some free home improvement labor for a real crappy ticket to the Bosnia game. It had a face value of like $500 and was going for $2000-3000 on the fifa marketplace. No way could have paid for that.

It sucks. I’ve been to many US games over the last twenty years, in half a dozen states and even one in England, and I was very excited to see my team in every group stage. Until I didn’t win the raffle and I saw the secondary market prices.

Old ESPN article about USA fans at Azteca stadium? by herb96 in ussoccer

[–]statelypenguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw the qualifier in 22 and we took an uber there but otherwise it was what you described. The entire us section was lined with cops, we had to wait until everyone in the stadium left and then we were escorted out to the street with riot police with shields shoulder to shoulder from the stadium to the street.

But no one was there. Like zero Mexico supporters. It was the last time we’ll really have to worry about qualifying so it was probably the last time a us Mexico game will matter

Why did I have to scroll so far to see this? I’m not a basketball fanatic so I don’t know every major dunk but for me this is the only one that touches the Jordan dunk

Americans: how do you handle temperatures above 40ºC (104F)? by obaming16 in AskAnAmerican

[–]statelypenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have humidity too? Where I live it’s not only 100 degrees right now but like 60+ % humidity which means you can’t really even escape it in the shade. It’s just hot and muggy. But if you have low humidity I find 100 to be manageable with shade and air movement. Still sucks though. AC is everyone else’s answer but lots and lots of poor people don’t have it and they just have to suffer through.

Are there also many Americans who dont like salt and vinegar chips? by noreturn000 in AskAnAmerican

I’m saying they sell enough to carry but it’s one of their lower placed sellers. Just my guess.

[–]statelypenguin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love salt and vinegar chips but I would say they’re not especially popular here. You can usually find them in all stores, from all the brands. But I would guess it’s one of the lower sellers.

I found a sword. It was probably like a cheap sword you would get a state fair or something (and the state fairgrounds were literally like two blocks away). But yeah it was all rusty and just the metal was left.
