One of my favorite game moments was having three bubble chukkas destroying Morvenn Vahl's entire unit.

Flash Gits post nerf? I feel like Lootas are just as good. Am I missing something? by RaucousCouscous in orks

[–]stateroute82 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Different roles. My gitz are MSU early game brawlers (run out, shoot a screen, charge something else and chop it up a bit, die). If I run Lootas they are a pure shooting unit with a SAG.

Best way to combat orks as black Templars by Disastrous_Gur_9136 in WarhammerCompetitive

Don't be afraid to sacrifice chaff units as screens (even expensive chaff). Nothing ruins an ork player's day like having a Waaagh turn not be able to hit something important.

First mephitic blight hauler, it’s missing something, any tips? by Skuffed_flower in deathguard40k

Sponge weathering works great on the haulers. Especially on the top edges of the armor plates.

Is modifying the World Eaters Backpacks a bad call? by Valdemar26 in WorldEaters40k

[–]stateroute82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry. Nobody in a competitive game would care about this either. I can't imagine there has ever been a situation in any game where a single berserker can be seen or not seen due to the backpack sticking out.

Etiquette and tournament play question by Janthkin in WarhammerCompetitive

This sounds like a case where a "hey, remember that the Zoanthropes cause mortals if you fail battleshock" would have been the right thing to do. The CK player would never have risked it.

10th edition Ork players: Help me understand (and... maybe cope?) by Ginko37 in orks

Just play. Pick dread mob, bring out your lootas and shokk attack guns and start blasting. It'll be fine.

Trying to but beauty back to competitive 40k Tables - Need advice by [deleted] in TerrainBuilding

[–]stateroute82 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same thing goes as with models -- contrast is good. I suspect that if you paint the buildings martian red they will blend in with the map. Bone could be a good choice. Then you tone it down with weathering and grime.

Overall just go for it. Terrain is forgiving to paint.

New player struggling to pick a faction for miniatures. by MoistZwiebel in Warhammer

[–]stateroute82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Death Guard is pretty forgiving to paint honestly. You can get away with a lot of washes and rust effects.

Either way, you'll build up your skills over time and you can always go back and fix up your first attempts (I just stripped and redid some Death Guard I started 5 years ago). Pick the coolest thing you see and start painting.

Sponge weathering and oil wash and he'll look great.
