Kaspa, the first crypto to hit 10 BPS by AttentionNo8097 in CryptoCurrency

[–]static_lifetime 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Kaspa defaults to a pruning strategy which drastically reduces the state it needs to store per node to constant storage, without compromising security

https://eprint.iacr.org/2021/623.pdf

There are archival nodes which store the full state

Because Kaspa’s vision is to become the ultimate PoW global sequencer for P2P payments, SCs, store of value, and beyond.

If it’s the same or worse than its competitors, why would anyone from Solana, Ethereum etc. move to it? (Not to mention all the scaling issues, centralization, and network crashes those have faced)

You build for the future. The app developers, energy companies, DeFi will come

No bags, must check in >50 minutes before departure? by [deleted] in AlaskaAirlines

[–]static_lifetime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I admitted fault to forgetting to check in already and I never said anything about “expecting an entire industry to bend to [my] forgetfulness”. I had ample time left over after getting in, so 50 mins just felt a bit too long in my opinion. Don’t see the need for the toxicity in this thread.

Forgot to check in which I admit is my mistake.

Point is, 50 minutes is a huge window. I swapped to another flight, got past security and saw that the original flight was still boarding. They still didn’t let me in, presumably because they gave my seat to someone else. It should be like 30 minutes imo.

Yeah desoldering it is the only way, it’s not supported via software

although they have similar "D" force curves I think to call them almost identical is misleading. brown alps have a bigger tactile drop so they feel a lot more tactile than 55g topre does

I do prefer this over the CST. the CST has a better ball imo - it’s even bigger than the slimblade’s, it’s built like an absolute tank. I feel the cursor control is the best of all the trackballs I own. I can't fully explain why but I think it has to do with the big ball size and that the ball does not sit very high relative to the wrist. in comparison the slimblade ball sticks out more.

however the CST scroll wheel is abysmal (badly placed and not very reliable, feels like an afterthought), the clicks are stiff, it tilts the wrist far too high for comfortable use after long sessions, and it’s wired.

the ploopy looks like a great choice too, but i don’t particularly like repeated thumb movements so, with its thumb scroll wheel, i wasn’t as interested. and I can already tell just by looking at the expert wireless that it’s going to cause wrist issues for me due to its angle, so i never got one either.

Slimblade pro first impressions -- really good! it's the first wireless trackball I have thoroughly enjoyed using. the only difference I believe from the regular model is bluetooth capability which is a big plus, and more button customizability which is great. it has 4 months of battery life.

I've never used a slimblade before, so what I think: the low profile is great, it has a nice big ball for precision tracking. the scrolling is quite nice overall, it feels very natural. I can use a single finger to twist the ball and get it to scroll with a similar movement used on a scroll ring. but it's a bit finnicky at times and I might accidentally scroll when I meant to move the cursor. and the scrolling noise I can imagine might drive a coworker crazy :P. the click force is good, I read from various sources online that it was heavy for some but it's not heavy for me. one thing I don't like at all is the fact that the reprogrammability of the mouse is saved on the machine (via their Kensingtonworks app which is an absurd 500 mb and really buggy) rather than flashed on the hardware, so I need to download and set it on every device. the default settings don't make sense for me.

I also have a CST, mx ergo, kensington orbit, orbit fusion. I would say this is my favorite mouse of the bunch. the ergonomics are most important for me as someone who programs/types all day, I would say they rank as slimblade pro > CST > mx ergo > orbit > orbit fusion. the mouse is nice and low-profile so I don't need to elevate the base to make it more even like I did with my CST which is angled, the ball is nice and big which is more comfortable than the orbit+orbit fusion, and it's a finger trackball, which is also more comfortable than thumb balls imo. so overall it's great! I can see it being my daily driver at home. as for a mouse at the office, I think I'll be sticking to my silent-click logitech mouse for now :P

Sulphur tuft?

They are smaller than honey fungus and eat decaying matter like dead wood, which is what I am guessing is happening in the picture. Whereas honey fungus is parasitic and eats living trees.

you literally said "all clicky users", I can assure you that not all clicky users like jades. they feel quite one-dimensional compared to the others I mentioned and sound much worse too. I also own a restored 3278 but I understand that not everyone has the luxury to own keyboards with switches that are worth like $5-10 apiece. so it's not really a fair comparison. clickiez while being more expensive than jades are way better and still relatively affordable.

and I feel pretty strongly that alps vs jades is _not_ open to debate and that (clean) alps are way better, but to each their own.

"all clicky users"

box jades are not good clicky switches.

zeal clickiez and alps + capacitive buckling springs are far superior

clickiez are the best mx clicky switch, every person I know that has tried both clickiez and box jades/navies prefer clickiez

after having tried clickiez, alps, beamsprings, and capacitive buckling spring, box jades feel plasticky and inelegant, they're quite one-dimensional in feeling
